Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO ENRICH THE LINGUISTIC, SOCIO-LINGUISTIC AND TEXTUAL SKILLS OF THE STUDENTS THROUGH THE LINGUISTIC, RHETORICAL AND STYLISTIC ANALYSIS OF WRITTEN AND ORAL TEXTS. TIME WILL BE DEVOTED TO THE PROBLEMS OF TRANSLATION AND TO THE STUDY OF LINGUISTIC PHENOMENA THROUGH A DIACHRONIC AND DIATOPIC STUDY OF THE LANGUAGE. THE MAIN AIM CONSISTS OF MAKING STUDENTS AUTONOMOUS IN THE BIBLIOGRAPHIC RESEARCH IN ORDER TO LET THEM DEAL WITH LINGUISTIC AND TANSLATION PROBLEMS.
BY THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENTS WILL HAVE ACQUIRED:
- AN APPROPRIATE KNOWLEDGE OF WRITTEN AND ORAL FRENCH LANGUAGE (C1-C2 LEVEL OF CEFRL).
-AN ABILITY IN THE TEXT ANALYSIS AND TEXTUAL TRANSLATION AT A HIGHER LEVEL. THEY WILL REFLECT AUTONOMOUSLY ON DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE LANGUAGE;
- ABILITY, FLEXIBILITY AND CREATIVITY IN INTERCULTURAL AND UNPREDICTABLE CONTEXTS;
-AN ABILITY IN ANALYZING THE STUDY OF COMPLEX LINGUISTIC PHENOMENA AND PROBLEMS REFERRED TO TRANSLATION IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND WITH DIFFERENT AIMS
THEY WILL BE ABLE TO:
-APPLY THE STUDY OF LANGUAGE COMPLEX PHENOMENA BY USING ICT TOOLS BY EXPERIMENTING DISTANT COLLABORATIVE LEARNING;
-WRITE SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS IN FRENCH;
-TRANSLATE TEXTS OF DIFFERENT GENRES;
-WORK AS A LINGUISTIC MEDIATOR IN DIFFERENT WORK FIELDS.
Prerequisites
THE COURSE REQUIRES A VERY GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF FRENCH AND A LIMITED TIME FOR IMPROVING THE LINGUISTIC AND COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCES, PREVIOUSLY ACQUIRED. THE COURSE IS ADDRESSED TO STUDENTS WITH C1 LEVEL (COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES).
LINGUE E CULTURE STRANIERE STUDENTS WILL HAVE PASSED THE EXAMS IN FRENCH LANGUAGE IV AND FRENCH LITERATURE IV.
Contents
LINGUISTIC AND SOCIO-LINGUISTIC SKILLS WILL BE IMPROVED AND EXTENDED, THROUGH THE LINGUISTIC, RHETORICAL AND STYLISTIC ANALYSIS OF WRITTEN AND ORAL TEXT, WITH THE AIM OF UNDERLINING THE DEEP CONNECTION BETWEEN FACTORS IN SYNTACTIC, SEMANTIC AND PRAGMATIC ORDER. BASIC QUESTIONS OF TRANSLATION THEORY AND PRACTICE WILL BE DISCUSSED THROUGH THE COMPARISON-CONTRASTIVE CODES IN CONTACT WITH TRANSLATION OF DIFFERENT KINDS AND OF SPECIFIC INTEREST. POSSIBLE TRANSLATIONS WILL BE COMPARED, BY VERIFYING THE ANALYSIS CRITERIA AND THE COHERENCE OF THE TRANSLATED TEXTS. ACCORDING TO THE IMPORTANCE OF ICT AND, IN PARTICULAR, FOR THE TRANSLATOR PROFESSION, THE COURSE PROPOSES ALSO TO DEVELOP PROPERLY THE NECESSARY ABILITIES IN ORDER TO USE ICT SUPPORTS AND THE ATTITUDE OF NET WORKING. STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE WILL BE HELPED IN INDIVIDUAL STUDY PLANS AND IN ALTERNATIVE TRANSLATION TESTS. A CYCLE OF SEMINARS WILL LET STUDENTS RESEARCH THROUGH APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

THE COURSE AIMS TO GIVE A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THEORIES AND TECNIQUES OF INTERPRETATION AND TRANSLATION IN ORDER TO ACQUIRE APPROPRIATE TASKS IN THE TEXT TRANSLATION FIELD FOR DOCUMENTS BOTH LITERARY AND ESSAYS, AS WELL AS THE TECHNIQUES RELATIVE TO AUTHOR’S TRANSLATION AND TO THE EDITORIAL SECTORS.

THE COURSE WILL EXPLORE FURTHERLY THE THEMES RELATIVE TO THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND THE FRENCH LANGUAGE TEACHING/LEARNING PROCESS IN AN INNOVATIVE PERSPECTIVE IN ORDER TO DEVELOP STUDENTS’ COMMUNICATION TASKS IN AN INTERACTION CONTEXTS.

THE COURSE WILL INTRODUCE TO RECENT TRENDS IN TRADUCTOLOGY WHICH CONCENTRATES ITS OWN FIELD ON ELEMENTS OF THE BUSINESS WORLD IN RELATION WITH SOME EMPIRICAL STUDIES IN THE TRANSLATION INDUSTRY AS WELL AS OF ITS SERVICES RELATIVELY TO THE TRANSLATOR FIGURE. AFTER A SHORT THEORETICAL INTRODUCTION, THE COURSE WILL SHOW LINGUISTIC SOLUTIONS ACCORDING TO NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS.

Verification of learning
AT THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS WHO HAVE ATTENDED OR NOT ATTENDED TO THE COURSE HAVE TO PASS AN EXAM CONSISTING OF A WRITTEN TEST WHICH IS COMPULSORY BEFORE TAKING THE ORAL TEST.
WRITTEN TEST FOR LINGUE E CULTURE STUDENTS:
THE TEST LASTS 6 HOURS AND CONSISTS OF SUBJECTS STUDIED DURING THE COURSE, ON CONTENTS OF THE BOOKS PROPOSED FOR THE STUDY OF FRENCH THIS YEAR. WRITTEN TEST CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:
-DICTATION TO TEST MORE COMPLEX KNOWLEDGES IN PHONETIC, PHONOLOGIC AND MORPHOLOGIC SKILLS;
-COMPOSITION IN FRENCH LANGUAGE ON CIVILIZATION AND ACTUALITY SUBJECTS PROPOSED DURING THE COURSE;
-TRANSLATION OF A TEXT FROM FRANCH INTO ITALIAN.
THE FINAL MARK IS THE AVERAGE OF THE THREE TEST MARKS.
WRITTEN TEST FOR INTERATENEO STUDENTS: TRANSLATION FROM FRENCH INTO ITALIAN.
ORAL TEST: THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A CONVERSATION ON SUBJECTS STUDIED DURING THE COURSE. SUBJECTS STUDIED INDEPENDENTLY BY SINGLE STUDENTS OR IN GROUP WILL BE APPRECIATED.
THE FINAL MARK WILL BE THE AVERAGE OF THE WRITTEN AND ORAL TEST MARKS.
FOR THE STUDENTS WHO FOLLOW THE COURSE, PERIODICAL TESTS WILL BE HELD WHICH WILL BE PART OF THE FINAL EXAM.
