THE TEACHING AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A BASIC KNOWLEDGE IN HISTORY OF ROMAN LAW AND ABOUT THE MAIN PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND CRIMINAL LAW INSTITUTIONS ORIGINATED BY THE JURIDICAL EXPERIENCE OF ANCIENT ROME. RELEVANT CONTENTS, BY MEANS OF ANALOGY OR DIFFERENCE, SHALL SUPPORT A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF JURIDICAL PHENOMENON IN ITS WHOLE AND THE ROOT OF LAW INTO FORCE NOWADAYS. KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION. -TO BE FAMILIAR WITH THE MAIN PHASES OF ROMAN LAW HISTORY AND THE CHANGING OF THE INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK, WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO THE ORGANIZATION OF POWER CENTERS, THE ROLE OF MAGISTRATES, THE AUTHORITY AND FUNCTIONING OF CITY ASSEMBLIES, THE BIRTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF IMPERIAL BUREAUCRACY. -TO LEARN SOURCES OF ROMAN LAW AND BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THEIR RELEVANCE IN PRODUCING JURIDICAL RULES IN A DIACHRONIC AND SYNCHRONIC PERSPECTIVE. -TO UNDERSTAND THE MAIN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LAW INSTITUTIONS AND THEIR EVOLUTION IN TIME. |

THE TEACHING WILL BE HELD DURING THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THE FIRST YEAR AND WILL LAST 72 HOURS IN TOTAL. IT WILL BE ARTICULATED IN LESSONS AND SEMINARS DEDICATED TO AN IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS OF MOST COMPLEX TOPICS. |

FOR ALL THE STUDENTS, PROFICIENCY WILL BE VERIFIED BY MEANS OF AN ORAL EXAMINATION TO TEST THE KNOWLEDGE OF ROMAN CONSTITUTIONAL ASSETS IN TIME AND THE MAIN INSTITUTIONS OF PRIVATE AND CRIMINAL LAW. A SET OF QUESTIONS WILL CONCERN IN DEPTH-ANALYSES TOPICS. THE FINAL MARK, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS, IS DELIBERATED BEARING IN MIND THE COHERENCE OF CANDIDATE’S ARGUMENTATION TO THE TOPICS SUBMITTED, THE ACCURACY OF CONTENTS, THE EXPRESSIVE PROPERTIES AND CRITICAL APPROACH. THE HIGHEST DISTINCTION (‘LODE’) CAN BE GRANT WHEN THE CANDIDATE ACHIEVES EXCELLENCE IN THE ABOVEMENTIONED PROFILES AND DEMONSTRATES THE CAPABILITY OF AUTONOMOUSLY RE-ELABORATING CONTENT LEARNED. |
