Objectives
STUDENTS MUST HAVE ACQUIRED BASICS IN PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE SYSTEMS AND ROUTES OF ADMINISTRATION; IN PHARMACOKINETIC MODEL OF STUDY; IN DRUG TRANSPORT PHENOMENA; IN TESTING IN–VITRO DEVICES.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:

STUDENTS MUST HAVE ACQUIRED SKILL TO APPLY THE BASICS OF PHARMACEUTICS DOSAGE SYSTEMS AND MODELS TO THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONTROLLED RELEASE OF DRUGS.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS:

STUDENTS MUST HAVE ACQUIRED A CRITICAL APPROACH TO INDIVIDUATE AND TO EVALUATE THE MAIN PHENOMENA INVOLVED DURING DRUG DELIVERY.

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS:

STUDENTS MUST KNOW HOW TO DISCUSS A TOPIC IN FIELD OF THE DRUG DELIVERY PHENOMENA.

LEARNING SKILLS:

STUDENTS MUST KNOW HOW TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN CONTEXTS EVEN DIFFERENT THAN THE ONES PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE AND TO BE ABLE TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS DEALT WITH WITHIN THE COURSE.
Prerequisites
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF MATHEMATICS, CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS, ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY, PHARMACOLOGY AND PHARMACOTHERAPY.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
Contents
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO FIVE MAIN PARTS:

PART I. DRUGS AND PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS. MATERIALS. MAIN STEPS IN PREPARATION PROCESSES OF DOSAGE FORMS: GRINDING, MIXING, GRANULATION, DRYING AND STERILIZATION.

PART II. ROUTES OF ADMINISTRATION OF DRUGS. BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF BIOPHARMACEUTICAL AND PHARMACOKINETIC.

PART III. ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORT PHENOMENA INVOLVED IN DRUG DELIVERY. DEVICES FOR IN-VITRO STUDIES. PHARMACOKINETIC MODELS. BASICS OF MATHEMATICAL MODELING.

PART IV. CONTROLLED-RELEASE DOSAGE FORMS.

PART V. INNOVATIONS IN THE PRODUCTION OF CONTROLLED RELEASE DOSAGE SYSTEMS.

Teaching Methods
LECTURES.
Verification of learning
ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY THE PASSING OF AN EXAM, CONSISTENT IN A WRITTEN TEST OF TWO HOURS, WITH OPEN ANSWERS ON SUBJECTS REGARDING PHARMACOKINETICS, PHARMACODYNAMICS, ROUTES OF DRUG ADMINISTRATION, ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORT PHENOMENA, MATHEMATICAL MODELING, INNOVATIONS, AND IN AN ORAL TEST NOT EXCEEDING 30 MINUTES ON THE SUBJECTS OF THE WRITTEN TASK. THE PROOF ENABLES TO CHECK THE LEVEL OF ACQUISITION OF SKILL, OF CORRECT TERMINOLOGY, OF ABILITY OF ANALYSIS, WHICH SHOULD CONSTITUTE THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. THE EVALUATION TAKES INTO ACCOUNT SYNTHESIS AND EXPOSURE ABILITY, LANGUAGE APPROPRIATENESS; CAPACITY OF ANALYSIS.
