Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EVENTS IN MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN HISTORY FROM THE SIXTH TO THE FOURTEENTH CENTURY. STUDENTS WILL ALSO STUDY THE MAIN FEATURES AND BASIC METHODOLOGIES OF HISTORICAL RESEARCH SO THAT THEY MAY BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DYNAMICS, INSTITUTIONAL, POLITICAL, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL OF THE HISTORY OF MEDIEVAL EUROPE.
BY THE END OF THE COURSE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO ANALYSE, WITH GREATER AWARENESS, NOT ONLY THE HISTORICAL EVENTS OF THE MIDDLE AGES BUT ALSO EVENTS WHICH ARE CLOSER TO THE PRESENT. THEY WILL HAVE ACQUIRED THE HISTORICAL MENTALITY AS PART OF THE CAPACITY FOR ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX SITUATIONS IN CONTEXTS OF STUDY AND WORK.
Prerequisites
GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF ORAL AND WRITTEN ITALIAN; BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF EUROPEAN HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY.

THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 36 HOURS OF LECTURES
Verification of learning
FINAL ORAL EXAM, WHICH TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN CLASS AND THE OUTCOME OF ANY WRITTEN EXERCISES.
DURING THE LAST WEEK OF THE COURSE THE ATTENDING STUDENTS CAN TAKE A VERIFICATION TEST, WHICH REPLACES THE EXAM.
EXAMINATION CRITERIA:
1) ABILITY TO ARTICULATE A COMPLEX DISCOURSE
2) ABILITY TO SPEAK CLEARLY AND WITH APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE
3) ABILITY TO SELECT DATA, STORING ACCURATELY THE SIGNIFICANT ONES.
