Objectives
THE TEACHING AIM IS TO PROVIDE A SUITABLE KNOWLEDGE OF STATISTICAL BACKGROUND AND TO MANIPULATE INFORMATION FROM EXPERIMENTAL MEASUREMENTS.
IT WILL BE GIVEN THE TOOLS TO SUMMARIZE THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA USING CHARTS, GRAPHICS AND STATISTICAL DISTRIBUTIONS, TO CHOOSE AND CALCULATE THE MEAN VALUES AND THE MOST CONSISTENT VARIABILITY FROM MEASURES OF SPECIFIC PROBLEMS. FOR THIS PURPOSE, THE THEORETICAL LESSONS WILL BE COMPLETED BY PRACTICAL CLASSES, DURING WHICH WILL BE USED PROGRAMS SUCH AS EXCEL AND THE STATISTICAL SOFTWARE R.

THE LECTURES WILL BE FOCUSED ON THE SUBJECTS BELOW.
1)THE ERROR CONCEPT
2)STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF RANDOM ERRORS.
3)DISTRIBUTIONS. NORMAL, BINOMIAL AND POISSON DISTRIBUTION.
4)THE LEAST SQUARES METHOD.
5)THE CHI-SQUARE TEST.
EACH SUBJECT INCLUDES EXAMPLES AND EXERCISES.

THE FREQUENCY IS MANDATORY ONLY FOR 2/3 OF THE 2 EXERCISE CFU.
Verification of learning
THE ADVANCEMENT WILL BE CHACKED WITH AN ORAL EXAMINATION. THE STUDENTS WILL BE EVALUATED ON KNOWLEDGE OF TREATED SUBJECTS, THE ABILITY TO PROCESS DATA AND PRESENT THE CONCLUSIONS.
