Objectives
THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE METHODOLOGICAL AND THEORETICAL TOOLS OF MACROECONOMICS. IT FOCUSES ON THE PROCESSES OF ECONOMIC AGGREGATES IN THE SHORT AND IN THE LONG RUN AND ON THE MACROECONONIC POLICY. ANALYSIS ON SOME EU CASES IS COMPLEMENTARY (KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING). STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO APPLY THE MAIN METHODOLOGICAL AND THEORETICAL TOOLS OF MACROECONOMICS TO UNDERSTAND AND ANALYSE THE MOST RELEVANT PROBLEMS OF REAL ECONOMIC SYSTEMS (APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING). THE COURSE WILL ENHANCE STUDENTS' CONFIDENCE WITH REAL ECONOMIC PROBLEMS (MAKING JUDGMENTS). STUDENTS WILL EXPLAIN, BY USING APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE AND ARGUMENTS, ISSUES OF MACROEECONOMICS (COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS). KNOWLEDGE AND THE COMPETENCES ACQUIRED IN THIS COURSE SHOULD BE USEFUL TO UNDERSTAND THE SUBJECTS TAUGHT IN MORE ADVANCED COURSES (LEARNING SKILLS)

INTRODUCTION TO MACROECONOMICS AND MACROECONOMIC DATA. NATIONAL INCOME, MONETARY SYSTEM, INFLATION, UNEMPLOYMENT. GROWTH THEORY AND POLICY. ECONOMIC FLUCTUATIONS AND STABILIZATION POLICY. AGGREGATE DEMAND: IS- LM MODEL, MONETARY AND FISCAL POLICY. AGGREGATE SUPPLY AND THE TRADE-OFF INFLATION UNEMPLOYMENT. SOME ISSUES ON MACROECONOMIC POLICY
