Objectives | |

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: LECTURES ARE INTENDED TO GIVE BASIC KNOWLEDGE ON CLASSICAL MECHANICS, THERMODYNAMICS, FLUID DYNAMICS, ELECTROMAGNETISM, OPTICS, AND ACUSTICS. A HISTORICAL REVIEW OF ALL TOPICS IS ALSO PROVIDED. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO IDENTIFY THE SCIENTIFIC STRUCTURING CONCEPTS AND THEIR CONNECTIONS, AND PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH SUITABLE MEANS TO ILLUSTRATE, IN A SIMPLE AND RIGOROUS WAY, ELEMENTARY EXPERIMENTS IN MECHANICS, FLUID DYNAMICS, THERMODYNAMICS, ELECTROMAGNETISM AND OPTICS. |

INTRODUCTION TO INQUIRY BASED SCIENCE EDUCATION [1 HOUR]. |

THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 48 HOURS (8 CFU) OF LECTURES. IT WILL PROVIDE BASIC KNOWLEDGE ON CLASSICAL MECHANICS, THERMODYNAMICS, FLUID DYNAMICS, ELECTROMAGNETISM, OPTICS, AND ACOUSTICS. |

THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A WRITTEN AND AN ORAL PART. THE WRITTEN PART CONSISTS OF PROBLEMS ON THE TOPICS STUDIED. IN THIS PART THE STUDENTS IS ALLOWED TO SHOW THAT HE/SHE HAS ACQUIRED SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE ON PHYSICS PRINCIPLE. THE ORAL PART CONSISTS IN THE ILLUSTRATION OF A TOPIC, SELECTED IN ADVANCE BY THE INSTRUCTOR. THE FINAL GRADE IS, IN GENERAL, THE AVERAGE OF THE POINTS GIVEN IN THE WRITTEN AND IN THE ORAL PART. |
