Objectives
Objectives of the course: to teach the basic organic chemistry in order to allow the student to classify and represent the organic compounds rationalising and predicting the reactivity on the bases of the functional groups.
Prerequisites
GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY
Contents
Structure and bonding in organic molecules. Acids and bases. Stereochemistry. Systematic nomenclature, structures, chemical-physics properties and reactivity of the most common classes of organic compounds: alkanes and cycloalkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, aromatic compounds, alcohols and tiols, ethers, epoxydes. Introduction to organic synthesis. Fundamental techniques to purify organic compounds.
