| Objectives of the course: to teach the basic organic chemistry in order to allow the student to classify and represent the organic compounds rationalising and predicting the reactivity on the bases of the functional groups. |

| Structure and bonding in organic molecules. Acids and bases. Stereochemistry. Systematic nomenclature, structures, chemical-physics properties and reactivity of the most common classes of organic compounds: alkanes and cycloalkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, aromatic compounds, alcohols and tiols, ethers, epoxydes. Introduction to organic synthesis. Fundamental techniques to purify organic compounds. |
