KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASICS OF ROMANCE LINGUISTICS AND THE ROMANCE LITERARY SYSTEM, INCLUDING THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO ITALIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE, ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE MAIN ELEMENTS AT WORK IN THE EVOLUTION FROM LATIN TO THE ROMANCE LANGUAGES AND HOW THESE NEW LANGUAGES CAME TO CREATE NEW LITERARY FORMS, MADE UP OF DIFFERENT LITERARY GENRES. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: ABILITY TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE GAINED IN THE FIELD OF ROMANCE LINGUISTICS TO THE LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF EARLY TEXTS AND TO UNDERSTAND, ALSO BY PHILOLOGICAL AND LITERARY ANALYSIS, THE MAIN PROBLEMS POSED BY MEDIEVAL ROMANCE LITERATURE. |

FINAL ORAL EXAM. STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN THE POSSIBILITY OF TAKING WRITTEN TESTS DURING THE COURSE AS PARTIAL OR COMPLETE SUBSTITUTION OF THE ORAL EXAM. THERE WILL BE THREE SUCH TESTS IN ALL, EACH COMPRISED OF TEN QUESTIONS REQUIRING SHORT WRITTEN ANSWERS CONCERNING THE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COURSE (TWO ON LITERARY TOPICS, ONE ON HISTORICAL LINGUISTICS). THE MARKS WILL TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION STUDENTS' 1) KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT 2) ABILITY TO GIVE CLEAR AND SYNTHETIC ANSWERS 3)ABILITY TO DISCUSS TEXTS AND PLACE THEM IN THEIR CORRECT CONTEXT 4) ABILITY TO PICK OUT AND EXAMINE THE MOST IMPORTANT DATA |
