Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THIS COURSE IS EXPECTED TO PROVIDE THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE FOR:
- UNDERSTANDING OF ECONOMIC CHOICES UNDER UNCERTAINTY, ASYMMETRIC INFORMATION AND COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR
- THE COMPREHENSION OF FORMS OF PUBLIC INTERVENTION IN THE ECONOMY WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON THE TAXATION SYSTEM, TAX EVASION AND MARKET REGULATION.


APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO DESIGN AND ASSESS ECONOMIC POLICIES WITH RESPECT TO (A) PUBLIC GOODS AND COMPETION POLICIES (B) THE OPTIMAL DESIGN OF THE TAX SYSTEM, (C) THE DEFINITION OF OPTIMAL AUDING STRATEGIES, AND (D) THE DESIGN OF OPTIMAL CONTRACT FOR MARKET REGULATION IN THE PRESENCE OF ASYMMETRIC INFORMATION.
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP CRITICAL SKILLS FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF ECONOMIC POLICIES IN THE FIELD OF TAXATION, TAX EVASION, AND MARKET REGULATION COMPATIBLY WITH THE EFFICIENCY-EQUITY TRADE-OFF (SOCIAL WELFARE)AND FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF PUBLIC POLICIES EFFECTS ON INDIVIDUAL CHOICES.

THE HETEROGENEITY OF LEARNING ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES IMPLEMENTED AT THE END OF THIS COURSE IS EXPECTED TO IMPROVE BOTH ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS ABILITIES OF STUDENTS. MOSTLY, STUDENTES ARE EXPECTED TO STRONGLY IMPROVE SYNTHESIS ABILITIES IN WRITTEN MANUSCRIPTS AND THE HANDLING OF MULTIPLE CHOICE TESTS.
IN THE FIRST MODULE STUDENTS WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO CRITICAL INTERPRETATION OF ECONOMIC CHOICES OF INDIVIDUALS, ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT APPROACHES.
THE SECOND MODULE OF THIS COURSE INTENDS TO DEVELOP THE LOGICAL SKILLS AND PSICOLOGICAL MOTIVATIONS OF STUDENTS BY THE CONTINUOUS PARALLELISM BETWEEN THEORETICAL ISSUES ANALYZED DURING THE LESSONS AND THE ECONOMIC POLICIES IMPLEMENTED BY THE "SOCIAL DECISION-MAKER" WITH RESPECT TO (A) OPTIMAL TAXATION, (B) TAX EVASION, AND (C) MARKET REGULATION.

INTRODUCTION TO COGNITIVE AND EXPERIMENTAL ECONOMICS, IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC GOODS FREE RIDING AND COMPETION POLICIES.

OPTIMAL CHOICE OF THE CONSUMER WITH HICKSIAN DEMAND FUNCTION, OPTIMAL INCOME AND GOODS TAXATION, TAX EVASION OF FIRMS AND OPTIMAL AUDITING STRATEGY, BASIC MODELS OF CONTRACT THEORY (LAFFONT-TIROLE E BARON-MYERSON).
