Objectives
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: AS 'EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE' WE MEAN THE EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES.
REGARDING KNOWLEDGE AND THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND, THE COURSE AIMS TO DEEPEN SOME BASIC CONCEPTS THAT STUDENTS HAVE LEARNT DURING THE COURSE OF GENERAL LINGUISTICS I AND TO INCREASE THE LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE GAINED, PARTICULARLY WITH REGARD TO TRADITIONAL LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS LEVELS (PHONETICS, PHONOLOGY , MORPHOLOGY, VOCABULARY, ETC.) AND THE MOST ACCREDITED INTERPRETIVE PARADIGMS.
AS FOR THE APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING, THE COURSE AIMS TO DEVELOP STUDENTS' ABILITY TO ORIENT THEMSELVES IN THE THEORETICAL VIEWS OF LANGUAGE ISSUES, TO GRASP THE KEY POINTS AND THE PROBLEMATIC NATURE OF EACH LEVEL OF LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS (PHONETICS, MORPHOLOGY, SYNTAX ETC.) IN LIGHT OF THE MOST RECENT THEORETICAL SUGGESTIONS.
THE STUDENT MUST ALSO SHOW THE ABILITY TO ANALYZE LINGUISTIC DATA IN THE LIGHT OF THE INTERPRETIVE MOST IMPORTANT PARADIGMS.
Prerequisites
STUDENTS MUST HAVE PASSED THE EXAM IN GENERAL LINGUISTICS I, HAVE A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS AND BE ABLE TO READ TEXTS IN ENGLISH .

THE COURSE AIMS AT DEEPENING OF SOME THEORETICAL LINGUISTICS ISSUES OF CENTRAL IMPORTANCE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO ACQUIRE MORE SKILLS IN LANGUAGE STUDIES. IN PARTICULAR, THE COURSE WILL HAVE AS SPECIFIC OBJECTS:
A) THE NOTION OF LANGUAGE AND THE MECHANISMS PUT IN PLACE BY SPEAKERS IN THEIR CONCRETE VERBAL ACTIVITY, BOTH IN TERMS OF PRODUCTION AND COMPREHENSION.
B) THE STUDY OF THE SEMANTIC AND PRAGMATIC DIMENSION OF LANGUAGES.

Teaching Methods
THE DIDACTICS INCLUDES 30 HOURS OF FRONTAL TEACHING. STUDENTS WILL BE INVITED TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE AND WILL HAVE TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES OF COLLECTION, OBSERVATION AND ANALYSIS OF LINGUISTIC DATA.
DURING THE COURSE, WRITTEN EXERCISES WILL ALSO BE CARRIED OUT.
Verification of learning
THE FINAL ASSESSMENT CONSIST IN A WRITTEN EXAM, WHICH INCLUDES OPEN OR MULTIPLE-CHOICE EXERCISES FOR A TOTAL OF ABOUT 25 EXERCISES. THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE SCORE FOR EACH EXERCISE IS INDICATED. THE FINAL MARK CONSISTS IN THE SUM OF THE SCORES OF ALL THE EXERCISES.

THE MINIMUM MARK TO PASS THE EXAM IS 18/30 THE MAXIMUM IS 30/30 CUM LAUDE.
