Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

THIS MODULE INTRODUCES STUDENTS AT THE ORGANIZATIONAL THEORY, WHICH WILL BE EXAMINED AND ANALYZED IN THE PARTICULAR CONTEXT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES. STUDENTS WILL IMPROVE THEIR AWARENESS OF THE CRITICAL ISSUES TO DEAL WITH THE ORGANIZATIONAL PHENOMENA, FROM BOTH A STRUCTURAL AND A PROCESSUAL PERSPECTIVE. THE INFLUENCES OF ICT ON STRUCTURAL DYNAMICS WILL BE INVESTIGATED IN-DEPTH.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

ATTENDING THE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES, THE STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES BOTH IN THE ANALYSIS AND IN THE REENGINEERING OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ORGANIZATIONAL PROCESSES.

MODULE A (30 HOURS – INF-01)
THE PURPOSE OF MODULE A IS TO PROVIDE AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BASIC CONCEPTS (TO KNOW) AND THE MAIN TECHNIQUES (HOW TO DO) OF THE DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, WHICH CAN BE USEFUL TO THE STUDENT FOR CONTINUING THE STUDIES AND FOR HIS FUTURE WORK.
IN PARTICULAR, REGARDING THE CONCEPTS, THE STUDENT AT THE END OF THE COURSE WILL HAVE ACQUIRED:
• KNOWLEDGE OF BASIC CONCEPTS OF DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND DATA REPRESENTATION MODES IN THE RELATIONAL MODEL.
• KNOWLEDGE OF SQL QUERY LANGUAGE
• KNOWLEDGE AND MASTERY OF TECHNICAL TERMINOLOGY AND METHODOLOGIES TO MOVE PROPERLY IN DATA-BASED INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
PARTICULAR EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE APPLICATION ASPECT, A FUNDAMENTAL PART OF THE MODULE AND OF ITS FINAL EVALUATION. WITH REGARD TO TECHNIQUES, AT THE END OF THE MODULE, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE ACQUIRED METHODOLOGICAL AND TECHNICAL TOOLS THAT WILL ENABLE HIM TO IMPLEMENT A DBMS APPLICATION IN ALL ITS PARTS. IN PARTICULAR HE WILL BE ABLE TO
• CREATE A DATABASE WITH ALL THE NECESSARY OBJECTS (TABLES, QUERIES, REPORTS, MASKS), CORRECTLY DEFINE THE DATA TYPES AND ASSIGN THE RIGHT PROPERTIES AND INTEGRITY CONSTRAINTS, POPULATE THE DATABASE.
• INTERROGATE AND EDIT DATA USING QBE AND SQL LANGUAGES.

STRUCTURE AND MODEL OF A DBMS: INTRODUCTION TO DBMS - INFORMATION SYSTEMS, DB AND DBMS - RELATIONAL MODEL - LANGUAGES, USERS, ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES - RELATIONAL MODEL, STRUCTURES AND CONSTRAINTS OF INTEGRITY
SQL LANGUAGE: SIMPLE QUERIES (SQL DECLARATIONS, SELECT-FROM-WHERE, ALIAS, WILDCARD, QUERY FUNCTIONS, MULTIPLE CONDITIONS AND RANGE SEARCH, SORTING, PARTIAL SEARCH (LIKE OPERATOR), MULTIPLE ORDERS, MULTIPLE TABLE QUERIES) - AGGREGATION OPERATORS - GROUPING QUERIES - SET-THEORY QUERIES - NESTED QUERIES - DATA MANIPULATION QUERIES (INSERTING, DELETING, AND UPDATING QUERIES).

MODULE A INCLUDES 30 HOURS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE (INF / 01) (5 CFU), OF WHICH 3 (18 HOURS) DEDICATED TO THE "THEORETICAL" PART, ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADEQUATE NUMBER OF EXAMPLES, AND 2 CFUS (12 HOURS ) DEDICATED TO THE EXERCISES THAT THE STUDENTS WILL PERFORM IN THE CLASSROOM.
THE COURSE AIMS TO ENTICE STUDENTS TO THE PROCESS OF LIFELONG LEARNING, THAT IS TO PRACTICE THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS, SEEKING TO STIMULATE CURIOSITY AND INTEREST.
TO INCREASE THE LEARNING ABILITY, THE TEACHER WILL SHOW THE "PRACTICAL" IMPLICATIONS OF WHAT WILL BE PRESENTED IN LESSON. THE TEACHER WILL TRY TO STIMULATE THE STUDENTS TO A CONTINUOUS INTERACTION WITH HIM AND THE OTHER STUDENTS AND WILL INVITE THEM TO A SERIOUS AND CONSTANT STUDY. IN THE CLASSROOM, IN ORDER TO KEEP WATCH OVER ALWAYS VIGILANT, SLIDES WILL BE MADE, SUITABLY ACCOMPANIED BY MULTIMEDIA ELEMENTS. IN ORDER TO BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO SELF-LEARNING, STUDENTS WILL BE INVITED TO DEEPEN THE COURSE TOPICS BY ADVISING THEM TO USE ONLINE AND OFFLINE RESOURCES OF PARTICULAR INTEREST.
DURING THE COURSE THE TEACHER WILL MAKE EXTENSIVE USE OF EXAMPLES, GUIDED EXERCISES AND EXERCISES TO BE PERFORMED AT HOME BY STUDENTS, WITH CORRECTION TO THE NEXT LESSON.
FROM A STRUCTURAL POINT OF VIEW, THE LESSONS WILL CONSIST OF

MODULE A (30 HOURS - INF-01)
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF FORM A IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING A THIRTY-POINT EVALUATION EXAM, TO WHICH THE PRAISE MAY POSSIBLY BE ADDED. VOTING OF THE MODULE IS THEN INTEGRATED WITH THAT OF THE OTHER MODULES OF THE COURSE.
WHEN EXAMINING MODULE A, THE STUDENT MUST DEMONSTRATE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL CONCEPTS AND THE CAPACITY TO APPLY PRACTICALLY THE TECHNIQUES FOR IMPLEMENTING A DATABASE. EXAMINATION OF FORM A WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE MULTIMEDIA LAB ON THE DAY AND TIME FIXED FOR THE APPEAL AND WILL START FOR ALL AT THE SAME TIME. DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO COME TO THE EXAM, THE CORRECTION OF THE TESTS CAN END IN THE DAY OR TAKE LONGER. WITHIN THE TERM OF THE EXAM (IE PRIOR TO LEAVING THE CLASSROOM OF THE LAST CANDIDATE) THE TEACHER WILL COMMUNICATE THE DAY AND TIME WHEN THE FINAL TRANSACTION WILL TAKE PLACE.
EXAMINATION OF FORM A IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS; EACH PART HAS A MINIMUM ENOUGH THRESHOLD, BELOW WHICH MODULE A IS NOT EXCEEDED. THE FINAL VOTE OF MODULE A IS USUALLY GIVEN BY THE SUM OF THE VOTES OF THE TWO PARTIES INTEGRATED, POSSIBLY IN NEGATIVE, BY AN INTERVIEW. EXAMINATION OF MODULE A MUST BE FULLY SUPPORTED IN A SINGLE APPEAL, SO THE TWO PARTS MUST BE OVERCOME BOTH IN THE SAME APPEAL. THIS MEANS THAT TRIALS ARE NOT CONSERVATIVE: THEY WILL NOT, THEREFORE, PASS TESTS PASSED IN OTHER APPEALS.
PART 1: QUESTIONNAIRE ON THE "THEORETICAL" TOPICS OF THE WHOLE COURSE:
MAXIMUM TIME AVAILABLE: 20 MINUTES
•TEST SCORE: UP TO 16 POINTS, SUFFICIENCY TO 10
•THE TEST CONSISTS OF 16 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS AND COVERS ALL PARTS OF THE COURSE; THE CORRECT ANSWER IS 1, THE WRONG ANSWER IS -0.5 AND THE ABSENCE OF THE ANSWER IS 0.
•QUESTIONNAIRES WILL BE CONDUCTED DIRECTLY TO THE COMPUTER USING A DEDICATED SOFTWARE, WHICH WILL IMMEDIATELY REPORT TO THE STUDENT THE RESULT OF THE TEST.
PART 2: DEVELOPMENT OF A DBMS APPLICATION
•MAXIMUM TIME AVAILABLE: 30 MINUTES
•TEST SCORE: UP TO 16 POINTS, SUFFICIENCY TO 8 (AT LEAST 5 ON SQL)
•THE TEST CONSISTS OF DEVELOPING A DBMS APPLICATION: CREATING TABLES, INSERTING DATA, CREATING MASKS AND REPORTS, AND MAKING QUERIES IN SQL.
