THIS COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS WITH A RATIONAL AND LOGICAL APPROACH TO IDENTIFY AND DESCRIBE THE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF PLANT CELL; THE STRUCTURE, FUNCTION, GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF PLANTS TISSUES AND ORGANS, AND TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESSES OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND RESPIRATION. BY THE END OF THIS COURSE, STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE DEVELOPED A KNOWLEDGE BASE TO SUPPORT LIFELONG INTEREST AND LEARNING IN BIOLOGY AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO: ASK QUESTIONS, DEVELOP HYPOTHESES, DESIGN OBSERVATIONS TO TEST HYPOTHESES, AND REACH CONCLUSIONS BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THOSE OBSERVATIONS. TO TRAIN THE STUDENT TO DEVELOP AND USE THEIR OWN INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT, THE INTERACTIONS AND DISCUSSION WITH THE TEACHER AND, THE OTHER STUDENTS, WILL BE USED. DURING THIS MODULE THE SCIENTIFIC DISCUSSION BETWEEN STUDENTS WILL BE STIMULATED WITH THE AIM TO STIMULATE LEARNING, TO DEVELOP SELF-AWARENESS, CRITICAL SPIRIT AND INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT. ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS MODULE, THE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO PRESENT AND JUSTIFY THE FUNDAMENTAL OF PLANT BIOLOGY IN A FORMAL DISCUSSION, USING A WIDE RANGE OF PLANT BIOLOGY EXPRESSIONS- THEY WILL BE THOROUGHLY FAMILIAR WITH THE BIOLOGY TOPIC AND WILL RESPOND CONFIDENTLY TO QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF BIOLOGY. THE TEACHING OF THE COURSE, WHICH COMBINES THE KNOWLEDGE OF PLANT BIOLOGY AT AN APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE, DEVELOPS LOGIC SKILLS AND CREATES THE MOTIVATIONS THAT CAN STIMULATE THE STUDY OF PLANT BIOLOGY. THE STUDENTS WILL BE TRAINED TO USE AND CARRY OUT THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD AS A FUNDAMENTAL MECHANISM FOR CRITICAL ANALYSIS AND SOLVING SPECIFIC PROBLEMS, AND TO EVOLVE THEIR JUDGMENTS, AS WELL AS THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACQUIRED. STUDENTS WILL ALSO BE ENCOURAGED TO EVALUATE THEIR LEARNING, TO GET MORE ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ADEQUACY OF THEIR STUDYING AND THE ACQUIRED BIOLOGY KNOWLEDGE. |
