Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ANIMAL AND PLANT BIOLOGY
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE:
-COMPOSITION, STRUCTURE, FUNCTION AND ORGANIZATION OF EUKARYOTIC AND PROKARYOTIC CELL
- MECHANISMS OF TRANSMISSION AND EXPRESSION OF GENETIC INFORMATION
- ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE PLANT CELL AND ITS IMPORTANCE AS A SOURCE OF BIOACTIVE MOLECULE
-ELEMENTS OF PLANT HISTOLOGY, ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE COURSE AIMS TO TRANSFER THE ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AS FOLLOWS:
- FACE AND SOLVE PROBLEMS RELATED TO CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR ANIMAL BIOLOGY.
- REALIZE THE MICROSCOPIC RECOGNITION OF PLANT STRUCTURES AND THE RECOGNITION OF THE MAIN BOTANICAL FAMILIES OF PHARMACEUTICAL INTEREST

Teaching Methods
LECTURES WILL BE CONDUCTED THROUGH THE AID OF A POWER POINT SUPPORT. IT IS PLANNED TO SHOW PRESENTATIONS FULL OF PICTURES, GRAPHS AND DIAGRAMS THAT ENABLE MAXIMUM UNDERSTANDING AND SYNTHESIS OF THE TOPICS COVERED.
THE ATTENDANCE TO THE LECTURES OF THE GENERAL BIOLOGY COURSE IS MANDATORY. THE TEACHER WILL COMMUNICATE THE MODE OF ATTENDANCE CONTROL ON THE FIRST LECTURE OF THE COURSE. STUDENTS WHO FAIL TO SATISFY THE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT, WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A SERIAL OF INFORMAL TUTORIALS ACCORDING TO THE TEACHER'S INSTRUCTION
Verification of learning
ANIMAL BIOLOGY MODULE:
THE EXAM IS STRUCTURED IN A WRITTEN AND AN ORAL TEST THAT TAKE PLACE ON CALENDARIZED DAYS, TO BE TAKEN IN THE SAME EXAM AND FOR BOTH AN EVALUATION IN 30THS. EACH TEST IS INTENDED TO BE PASSED WITH THE MINIMUM VOTE OF 18/30.
THE WRITTEN TEST IS PREPARATORY AND MANDATORY TO THE ORAL TEST AND CONSISTS OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF 30 QUESTIONS WITH MULTIPLE ANSWER AND BLOCKED CHOICE. IT HAS A DURATION NOT EXCEEDING 40 MINUTES AND THE SUBJECT WILL TAKE TOPICS RELATING TO THE PROGRAM OF THE COURSE AND ARE AIMED AT VERIFYING THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS PROPOSED.
THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF A DISCUSSION OF THE DURATION NOT EXCEEDING 30 MINUTES, AIMED AT ASKING THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THEORETICAL CONTENT, LANGUAGE PROPERTIES, LOGICAL / DEDUCTIVE AND SYNTHESIS SKILLS, ARGUMENTATION SKILLS
THE FINAL MARK IS GIVEN BY THE EVALUATION OF EACH SINGLE TEST (EACH WITH A MINIMUM RESULT 18/30) GIVING PARTICULAR WEIGHT TO THE ORAL TEST.
AT THE END OF THE COURSE, IN JANUARY, STUDENTS WHO PRESENT MINIMUM 75% OF ATTENDANCE, WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CARRY OUT A TEST WHICH EXEMPT FROM THE WRITTEN TEST. THIS CONSISTS OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF 60 MULTIPLE CHOICE AND BLOCKED CHOICE QUESTIONS. IT HAS A DURATION OF NOT EXCEEDING 60 MINUTES. THE EXEMPTION IS VALID ONLY FOR THE SESSION FOLLOWING THE COURSE

PLANT BIOLOGY MODULE
WRITTEN AND ORAL EXAMINATIONS.
WRITTEN TEXT: 30 MULTIPLE CHOISE QUESTIONS (60 MINUTES, NO NEGATIVE MARKS) REGARDING THE MAIN LEARNING OUTCOMES. THE WRITTEN TEST (18/30) IS A PREREQUISITE FOR THE ORAL EXAMINATION
THE ASSESSMENT OF THE SUCCESS OF THE EXAM BY MEANS OF SPECIFIC QUESTIONS, IT WILL BE DETERMINED WHETHER THE STUDENT HAS ACQUIRED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE COURSE CONTENTS, AND IF THE STUDENT GAINED THE ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE AND UNDERSTAND AND TO EXPLAIN THE MAIN TOPICS. THE STUDENT DISCUSSING THE MAIN TOPICS OF THE COURSE, HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE CRITICAL THOUGHT AND AWARENESS OF THE STRUCTURE OF THE FIELD OF STUDY.

AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT HAS THE POSSIBILITY TO CARRY OUT WRITTEN TEST CONSISTING OF 30 BLOCKED MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS (40 MINUTES AVAILABLE). THE DATE OF TESTS IS ESTABLISHED AND AGREED WITH THE ATTENDING STUDENTS, AND NOTIFIED IN ADVANCE TO THE STUDENTS (III WEEK OF DECEMBER). THE PASSING OF THIS TEST MAY EXEMPT FROM THE PERFORMANCE OF THE WRITTEN TEST. THE EXEMPTION APPLIES EXCLUSIVELY TO THE EXAMINATION SESSION IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TEACHING SESSION.
FOR STUDENTS WHO DID NOT TAKE THE IN-ITINERE TESTS, THE EXAM PROVIDES A WRITTEN TEST ON THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE
THE FINAL GRADE IS GIVEN BY THE AVERAGE OF THE VOTES OBTAINED FOR EACH MODULE
