Objectives
LEARNING OF (I) TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS FOR DRINKING WATER, URBAN AND INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT, (II) DESIGN CRITERIA, AND (III) SOLUTIONS FOR MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION OF THE TREATMENT PLANTS.

ABILITY TO SELECT THE MORE SUITABLE TECHNOLOGY AND THEIR COMBINATION (IN MULTI-BARRIER SOLUTIONS) ACCORDING TO WATER/WASTEWATER SOURCE AND TREATMENT TARGET (E.G., DISPOSAL INTO THE SEWAGE, DISPOSAL IN TO SURFACE WATER, WATER REUSE, DRINKING WATER TREATMENT).

1.URBAN WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT: DISCUSSION OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS FOR URBAN WASTEWATER TREATMENT.
2.NEW/EMERGING BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES/TECHNOLOGIES: MEMBRANE BIOLOGICAL REACTORS (MBR), MOVING BED BIOFILM REACTORS (MBBR), BIOLOGICAL AERATED FILTERS (BAF), UPFLOW ANAEROBIC SLUDGE BLANKET (UASB) REACTORS, ETC. DESIGN AND CHECK.

8.PHYSICAL, CHEMICAL AND PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROCESSES FOR WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT: COAGULATION, PRECIPITATION, AIR STRIPPING, OXIDATION, ADVANCED OXIDATION PROCESSES (AOPS), DISINFECTION, ION EXCHANGE, ADSORPTION.
9.ADVANCED TREATMENT OF URBAN WASTEWATER: EMERGING CONTAMINANTS REMOVAL, WASTEWATER REUSE, DIFFERENT OPTIONS FOR FULL SCALE APPLICATIONS, DESIGN.

Verification of learning
INTERVIEW AND HOMEWORK WILL BE THE TOOLS TO EVALUATE LEARNING SKILLS. THE AIM IS (I) TO PROMOTE AND EVALUATE STUDENTS' CAPACITY TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN WORKING GROUPS AS WELL AS (II) TO CHECK BY AN INTERVIEW STUDENT CAPACITY TO FIND EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE TREATMENT OF SPECIFIC WATER AND WASTEWATER.
