Objectives
OBJECTIVES:

TEACHING AIMS TO PROVIDE THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF THE MEDIA SOCIOLOGY AND, IN PARTICULAR, OF INTERNET STUDIES, FRAMING THE THEORIES IN THE HISTORICAL CONTEXTS IN WHICH THEY ARE ORIGINATED. IT ALSO INTENDS TO ARGUE SOCIOLOGICALLY THE SHIFT FROM TRADITIONAL MEDIA TO NEW MEDIA, ANALYZING THE CENTRALITY OF THE MEDIA IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY AND THEIR ROLE AS "DEFINERS OF REALITY" AND "SOCIO-TECHNICAL DEVICES." OTHERS EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES ARE:
1) THE ACQUISITION OF SPECIFIC SKILLS IN MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF TV PROGRAMS, ESPECIALLY THOSE DEDICATED TO CHILDREN, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE VIOLENCE CONTENT AND FORM OF SOME FORMAT.
2) THE ACQUISITION OF SPECIFIC SKILLS ABOUT SOCIAL NETWORK AND, GENERALLY, INTERNET STUDIES
Prerequisites
PREREQUISITES:

GOOD REASONING ABILITY, SENSE CRITICAL, OVERVIEW, ATTENTION TO CONTEXT, ANALYSIS AND SUMMARY SKILLS, ABILITY TO DEVELOP THE DIVERGENT THINKING, CREATIVITY, INTUITION, JUDGEMENT.

CONTENTS:

TEACHING FOCUSES ON THE ANALYSIS OF CONSTRUCTIVE AND LOGICAL MECHANISMS THAT CHARACTERIZES COMMUNICATION OF NEW AND TRADITIONAL MEDIA. WILL BE INVESTIGATED IN PARTICULAR THREE ASPECTS: 1) THE IDENTITY BUILDING AND MODULATION THROUGH THE SOCIAL NETWORKS 2)EXPECTATIONS AND MEDIA CONSUMPTION MODES THROUGH THE GENERATIONAL APPROACH;) THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INTERNET AND CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF SOCIAL CAPITAL

LECTURES, WORKSHOPS MOMENTS, FOCUS GROUPS, BRAINSTORMING TECHNIQUES, USE AND COMMENT OF VIDEO, CRITICAL USE OF TELEVISION TRACKING GRIDS

VERIFICATION OF LEARNING:

AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT SHOULD HAVE ACQUIRED: A) KNOWLEDGE OF THE SOCIO-CULTURAL AND COGNITIVE DYNAMICS ACTIVATED BY TRADITIONAL MEDIA AND NEW MEDIA, B) BASIC SKILLS RELATED TO THE USE OF MEDIA PRODUCTS AND, IN PARTICULAR, CRITICAL SKILLS TO EVALUATE ONLINE USER GENERATED CONTENTS.
THE FINAL ASSESSMENT PROVIDES AN ORAL TEST TO VERIFY THE DEGREE OF PREPARATION OF THE STUDENT. IT IS RECOMMENDED (NOT REQUIRED) THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PAPER ON A SPECIFIC TOPIC OF THE COURSE.
