Objectives
KNOWING AND UNDERSTANDING: THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY. THE MAIN GOAL IS DEVELOPING CRITICAL THINKING WHICH CAN ALLOW STUDENTS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THEORETICAL PARADIGMS, METHODOLOGIES AND ADVANCES OF CURRENT RESEARCH ON COGNITIVE PROCESSES.
II. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION:
THE MAIN THEORETICAL APPROACHES WILL BE DEALT WITH, UNDERLINING THEIR PRACTICAL RELEVANCE. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY THAT KNOWLEDGE TO DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS OF SOCIETY AND HUMAN BEHAVIOUR IN GENERAL.

INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION ON THE HISTORY OF PSYCHOLOGY WILL BE PROVIDED TOGETHER WITH BASIC INTRODUCTION TO THE MAIN EPISTEMOLOGICAL APPROACHES OF THE DISCIPLINE THEORETICAL CONSTRUCTS AND RESEARCH PARADIGMS. A GREAT DEAL OF ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO THE PROCESSES OF KNOWLEDGE FORMATION. THE COURSE WILL THEN ADDRESS ISSUES REGARDING MEMORY, EMOTION AND LEARNING. MOREOVER, TOPICS REFERRING TO INTELLIGENCE WILL BE ADDRESSED.
Teaching Methods
LECTURES WILL BE GIVEN WITH THE AID OF SLIDES AND VIDEOS.
Verification of learning
LEARNING WILL BE ASSESSED THROUGH A TEST CONSISTING OF MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS. STUDENTS WHO REGULARLY ATTEND CLASSES WILL BE ENTITLED TO ACCESS INTERMEDIATE EVALUATIONS DURING THE COURSE.
