Objectives
EDUCATIONAL AIMS
THE COURSE AIMS TO DEEPEN THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF ETHICAL THEORY (METAETHICS) AND OF NORMATIVE THEORIES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL:
- DEEPEN THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE DISCIPLINARY FOUNDATIONS OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY AND ITS MAIN AUTHORS.
- IMPROVE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE HISTORICAL DIMENSION OF THE QUESTIONS OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY THAT WILL MAKE THEM ABLE TO ORIENT THEMSELVES IN THE DIFFERENT THEMATIC FIELDS OF ETHICAL THEORY AND NORMATIVE ETHICS.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- APPLY THE THEORETICAL PRINCIPLES OF ETHICS TO CONCRETE CASES.
- EXAMINE IN DETAIL THE STRENGTH OF THE ARGUMENTS PROPOSED BY DIFFERENT AUTHORS.
- ELABORATE A TIMELY CRITIQUE OF BOTH THE VARIOUS THEORIES AND THEIR PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS, AND POSSIBLY DEVELOP PERSONAL REFLECTIONS.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- EVALUATE MORE PRECISELY THE CORRECTNESS OF THE ARGUMENTS PRESENTED IN FAVOUR OF SPECIFIC NORMATIVE PRINCIPLES.
- SELECT ARGUMENTS AND REASONS THAT CAN HELP PRODUCE A PERSONAL AND ORIGINAL POSITION, FOUNDED ON PRECISE AND DETAILED ARGUMENTATION.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- FIND EQUIVALENTS IN ITALIAN OF DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC TERMS FOUND IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES.
- PRESENT AND COMMUNICATE, THROUGH TEXTS OR VIRTUAL TOOLS, THE RESULTS OF THEIR OWN RESEARCH OR ESSAYS, EVENTUALLY PRESENTING THEM THROUGH THE ELABORATION OF MENTAL EXPERIMENTS.

LEARNING SKILLS
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- USE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS AND COMPUTER RESOURCES.
- CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET THE FUNDAMENTAL TEXTS OF THE DISCIPLINE, DEFINE THE CRITERIA FOR SELECTING AND EVALUATING THE DIFFERENT BIBLIOGRAPHIC SOURCES.
- PROCEED TO THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE, USING THE TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE.

THE EXAM WILL CONSIST OF AN INTERVIEW AIMED AT VERIFYING THE STUDENT'S PREPARATION AND ABILITY TO USE THE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE FIELD OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY. DURING THE INTERVIEW, THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN A CLEAR AND UNEQUIVOCAL WAY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF CONTENT AND METHODOLOGY WILL BE EVALUATED. IN PARTICULAR, THE:
- THE QUALITY OF THE EXPOSITION, IN TERMS OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE
- THE ABILITY TO CROSS-REFERENCE THE VARIOUS TOPICS OF THE MODULE AND, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES
- THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT.
A FRAGMENTARY KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL CONTENT OR A LIMITED ABILITY TO LINK THEORETICAL REFERENCES TO THE CONTEXT OF STUDY WILL RESULT IN THE LOWEST MARK (18/30).
WHEN THE CANDIDATE DEMONSTRATES COMPLETE AND THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL CONTENT OR SHOWS A REMARKABLE ABILITY TO LINK THEORETICAL REFERENCES TO THE CONTEXT OF STUDY, THEY MAY REACH HIGHER MARKS (UP TO 30).
WHEN THE CANDIDATE DEMONSTRATES SIGNIFICANT MASTERY OF THE THEORETICAL AND OPERATIONAL CONTENT AND SHOWS AN ABILITY TO PRESENT THE ARGUMENTS WITH REMARKABLE PROPERTY OF LANGUAGE AND ABILITY TO AUTONOMOUS ELABORATION EVEN IN CONTEXTS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED BY THE LECTURER, THEY MAY BE AWARDED THE TOP MARK (30/30+).
