EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS AND EXPERTISE TO ACQUIRE: LEARN THE DESIGN METHODOLOGIES AND TEST STRUCTURES IN THE ELASTIC FIELD, KNOW THE METHOD OF SEMI-PROBABILISTIC VERIFICATION TO THE ULTIMATE LIMIT STATES, THE ANALYSIS OF BEAM STRESSES AND BEAM SYSTEMS (FRAMES AND BEAMS) FOR STATIC ACTIONS WITH MANUAL AND NUMERICAL METHODS, THE DESIGN OF RIGID FOUNDATION STRUCTURES ON ELASTIC SOIL. APPROACH THE BASIC STUDY OF STEEL STRUCTURES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO WELDED AND BOLTED CONNECTIONS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS: KNOW THE THEORY OF THE BEHAVIOR OF REINFORCED CONCRETE MEMBERS TO THEULTIMATE LIMIT STATES BY COMING TO THE METHODS OF PROJECT AND VERIFICATION; ADDRESSING IN GENERAL THE METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF STRUCTURAL MODELING. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: BEING ABLE TO DETERMINE STRESSES IN ISOSTATIC AND HYPERSTATIC BEAMS AND IN FRAMED STRUCTURES, TO CARRY OUT PROJECT OPERATIONS AND VERIFICATION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE MEMBERS IN THE LINEAR AND NON-LINEAR FIELD, TO MODEL AND ANALYZE STRESSES FOR SMALL STRUCTURES, TO SIZE THE CONVENTIONAL CONNECTIONS OF STEEL STRUCTURES. AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT: TO BE ABLE TO CRITICALLY EXAMINE THE BEHAVIOR OF THE REINFORCED CONCRETE SECTIONS IN ULTIMATE AND SERVICEABILITY CONDITIONS AND TO BE ABLE TO EVALUATE THE RELIABILITY OF THE RESULTS OF THE ANALYSES ON FRAMED STRUCTURES BY CONTROLLING THE RELIABILITY OF THE ANALYSIS THROUGH ELEMENTARY MODELS. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: KNOWING HOW TO WORK IN GROUPS AND ORALLY EXPOSE STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE BEHAVIOR OF COMPLEX SECTIONS, MEMBERS AND STRUCTURES, KNOWING HOW TO DRAW UP EXHAUSTIVE DESIGN WORKS CAPABLE OF EFFECTIVELY TRANSMITTING ALL THE INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR THE REALIZATION OF SIMPLE STRUCTURES. ABILITY TO LEARN: KNOWING HOW TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO STRUCTURAL SITUATIONS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE EXAMINED DURING THE COURSE FOR MATERIALS AND STRUCTURAL TYPES. |

Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
TEACHING IS DEVELOPED BY MEANS OF LESSONS ON THEORY, EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM AND PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES IN LABORATORY. THE EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM CONSIST ON THE APPLICATION OF THE STUDIED TOPICS AND ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THREE PROJECTS: CONCRETE-BRICK FLOOR, CONCRETE REINFORCED FRAME WITH TWO SPAN AND TWO STOREY, A STEEL SHELTER. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE FINAL ASSESSMENT OF THE COURSE IS DONE VIA WRITTEN AND ORAL EXAM. TO PASS THE EXAM, THE STUDENT SHOULD DEMONSTRATE TO HAVE UNDERSTOOD AND TO BE ABLE OF APPLYING THE MAIN TOPICS WHICH ARE PART OF THE PROGRAMME. THE FINAL MARK, WHICH IS EXPRESSED IN 30TH, DEPENDS UPON THE LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING ACHIEVED BY THE STUDENT AND THE CLARITY OF HIS ANSWERS DURING THE EXAMS. |
