Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: STUDENTS ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE TO CRITICALLY UNDERSTAND THE CONSTITUTIVE DYNAMICS THAT MAKE SPORT AND ITS SOCIAL CULTURES A RELEVANT SYSTEM OF SOCIAL LIFE. THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF THE DIFFERENT CONTEXTS AND SOCIAL PROCESSES IN WHICH SPORT CULTURES DEVELOP.
IN PARTICULAR, BY THE END OF THE COURSE HE/SHE WILL HAVE DEVELOPED THE ABILITY TO INDEPENDENTLY ANALYSE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPORT AND WELL-BEING, THE LATTER BEING UNDERSTOOD AS AN OVERALL STATE OF LIFE SATISFACTION OF INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIAL GROUPS.

THE COURSE AIMS TO EXPLORE THE SOCIAL EXPERIENCE OF SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY THROUGH SOME THEMES OF SOCIOLOGICAL RELEVANCE SUCH AS MODERNITY, POLITICS, COMMUNITY AND FORMS OF SOCIALISATION.
THE CONTENT IS DIVIDED INTO THREE AREAS:
A.DEFINITION OF THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE SOCIOLOGY OF SPORT.
B.OUTLINING STUDIES AND EMPIRICAL RESEARCH ON CHANGING VALUES IN SPORT PRACTISE.
C.SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SPORT, WELLNESS AND IDENTITY EMPOWERMENT.
Teaching Methods
CONVENTIONAL TEACHING (FRONTAL LECTURES AND GROUP DISCUSSIONS), SUPPORTED BY PERIODIC WORKSHOPS WITH EXPERTS IN THE DISCIPLINE, ALSO IN STREAMING (USING THE MODALITIES PROVIDED BY THE UNIVERSITY PLATFORM).
Verification of learning
THE EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF AN ORAL INTERVIEW AND AIMS TO ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE DISCIPLINE AND ITS AREAS OF APPLICATION. THE EXAM ALSO INCLUDES A DISCUSSION OF CONCRETE CASES AIMED AT ASSESSING THE LEVEL REACHED BY THE STUDENT IN THE ABILITY TO APPLY HIS/HER KNOWLEDGE.
THE FOLLOWING ASPECTS WILL BE CONSIDERED IN THE FORMATION OF THE FINAL GRADE (IN 30 POINTS):
-PRESENTATION SKILLS.
-KNOWLEDGE OF THE COURSE CONTENT.
-MASTERY OF THE SOCIOLOGICAL LANGUAGE.
