The Human Computer Interaction discipline covers all the problems related to the design, evaluation and development of interactive systems and the study of all the surrounding phenomena. On this subject, the laboratory has been carrying out a wide range of research for several years aimed at improving the user experience with modern interactive systems that affect today the different spheres of an individual's life, from health to work, to leisure time, to mobility etc. A right combination of creativity, curiosity towards emerging technologies and experience in the field of usability engineering, feeds all the lines of research carried out in the laboratory. In particular, in recent years these have affected:
- Participatory Design, User Centered Design (UCD) and their applications in software development processes
- Multimodal Interaction
- Mobile Health
- Usability Evaluation
- ICT for Emerging Regions
- Human-Geographic Information Systems Interaction
- Geovisualization
- Visual Query Languages for Geographic Information Systems
Mission
Improve the User Experience with the modern interactive systems that affect the different spheres of an individual's life today (health, work, leisure, mobility, etc.)
For students …
The laboratory acts as a didactic support for the teachings of
- Human Computer Interaction of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, and
- Human Computer Interaction and Software Usability of the Master's Degree in Computer Science
- Human Computer Interaction and Experience Design for the Internet of Things
of the Master's Degree in Computer Science
- Internship activities for students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, aimed at the design and development of usable interfaces prototypes for mobile / desktop / web-based / wearable systems, etc.
- Research thesis on emerging topics in the field of Human Computer Interaction and Usability Engineering.
