THE GOAL OF THIS COURSE IS TO HIGHLIGHT THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE ORGANISATION OF SOCIETY MIRRORS WORK’S ORGANISATION AND, THEREFORE, HOW WORK COULD SHAPE AND AFFECT THE ENTIRE HUMAN CONDITION. IN THIS PERSPECTIVE, THE CULTURAL PROCESSES THAT HAVE LED FROM THE FORDIST PRODUCTION SYSTEM TO THE POST-FORDIST ONE IN A GLOBALISATION ERA WILL BE CRITICALLY EXAMINED. TO THIS END, CLASSICAL SOCIAL THEORIES WHICH HAVE FORMULATED WORK’ S CONNECTION TO SOCIETY, AS WELL AS THIS LATTER’S LINK TO THE FORDIST ORGANISATION OF WORK, WILL FIRST BE INVESTIGATED. THEN, CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL THEORIES, THAT HAVE IDENTIFIED BOTH THE OBJECTIVE REASONS FOR THE TRANSITION FROM FORDISM TO POST-FORDISM (BOTH HISTORICAL AND ECONOMIC) AND SUBJECTIVE CONSEQUENCES (PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EXISTENTIAL) ON THE SOCIAL ACTORS’ LIVES, FROM PRECARIOUSNESS TO THE EMERGENCE OF CULTURES BASED ON SELFISHNESS, COMPETITION AND EFFICIENCY, WILL BE THOROUGHLY ANALYSED. IN CONCLUSION, AS FOR THE ITALIAN SOCIETY AND THE ORGANISATION OF CULTURAL WORK, THERE WILL BE A FOCUS ON THOSE NARRATIVES THAT HAVE MANAGED TO CAPTURE THE SHAPING DYNAMICS OF PRECARIOUSNESS. |
