MEDIA-SOCIETY RELATIONS ARE CONSOLIDATED, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE WAYS IN WHICH DIGITAL MEDIA ARE PENETRATED IN THE SOCIAL SPHERES OF POLITICS, CONSUMPTION, EDUCATION, CULTURAL PRODUCTION AND SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE. STUDENTS MAY PROCEED TO: - TEST THROUGH EXPERIMENTAL ACTIVITIES THE GENERAL AND SPECIFIC RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN MEDIA AND SOCIETY; - LEARN ABOUT THE WAYS IN WHICH, ESPECIALLY IN THE LAST TWO DECADES, DIGITAL MEDIA CONTRIBUTE TO DEFINING FORMS OF SOCIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SYMBOLIC EXCHANGE BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES; - EQUIP THEMSELVES WITH THE ANALYSIS TOOLS IN RODER TO IDENTIFY PROCEDURES AND PROCESSES ORIENTING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN MEDIA AND SOCIETY. THROUGH THE LABORATORY, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - APPLY ANALYTICAL CRITERIA ON THE PATTERNS OF OPERATION OF DIGITAL MEDIA IN RELATION TO FIELDS OF SOCIAL ACTIVITY; - CONNECT THE ORIENTATIONS AND MODES OF OPERATION OF DIGITAL MEDIA WITH SOCIO-TECHNICAL EXPERIENCES AND REALITIES; - UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STAGES, FIGURES, THEMES OF CONTEMPORARY DIGITAL MEDIA WITH STAGES OF EVOLUTION OF SOCIAL, PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION STRUCTURES, WITH SOCIO-CULTURAL CHANGES OF USERS. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO DEVELOP INDEPENDENT THEORETICAL AND EMPIRICAL REFLECTION ON THE MODES OF OPERATION OF DIGITAL MEDIA BY MAKING JUDGMENTS ABOUT THEIR SOCIAL AND CULTURAL EFFECTS. STUDENTS WILL BE ENABLED TO DEVELOP A STEADY DIALOGICAL DISCUSSION WITH THE LECTURER AND THEIR COLLEAGUES THROUGH DIALECTICAL ARGUMENTS AND VERIFIABLE REASONING. THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS WILL BE STIMULATED THROUGH SPEECHES AND TALKS ON PRICIPAL CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL PROBLEMS AND BY CLASSROOM COMMENTARY ON SHORT STORIES, NOVELS, NEWSPAPER ARTICLES, FILMS AND TV SERIES RELEVANT TO THE COURSE TOPICS. STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP LEARNING SKILLS THAT WILL ENABLE THEM TO CONFIDENTLY USE THE RESOURCES OFFERED BY TRADITIONAL LIBRARIES AND ONLINE DATABASES AS WELL AS ALL THE MATERIALS AVAILABLE IN DIGITAL AUDIOVISUAL ARCHIVES. THEY WILL KNOW HOW TO ANALYZE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEXTS FROM THE MORE TRADITIONAL ONES RELATED TO WRITING (NOVELS AND NEWSPAPERS) TO THE CONTEMPORARY ONES MORE RELATED TO IMAGES (COMICS, CINEMA, SOCIAL MEDIA). NAVIGATING THROUGH THE VARIOUS SOURCES AND ANALYZING TEXTS WILL ALLOW THEM A CONSTANT UPDATE OF THE PROCESSES OF EDUCATION. |

THE ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING CONSISTS IN THE PRODUCTION BY THE ATTENDING STUDENTS OF AN ESSAY (TEXTUAL AND WITH AUDIOVISUAL MATERIAL), WHICH WILL BE WORKED ON DURING THE LESSONS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE TEACHER, WHICH REPRESENTS THE ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL CONDITIONS TECHNIQUES FOR PENETRATION OF THE PROCESSES, LANGUAGES AND AFFORDANCES OF DIGITAL MEDIA WITHIN SOCIAL EXPERIENCES IN THE VARIOUS FIELDS ANALYZED AND EXAMINED DURING THE LABORATORY. THE ESSAY WILL BE ASSESSED BY THE PROFESSOR. FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT ATTEND THE CLASS THE EXAM WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN ORAL FORM AND WILL AIM TO GET STUDENTS TO GET A CRITICAL READING OF THE PHENOMENANES SUBJECT TO THE TEXTS IN THE PROGRAM, STARTING FROM THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE AS USERS AND INHABITANTS OF THE NETWORK.
