GENERAL OBJECTIVE THE WORKSHOP AIMS AT IMPROVING THE ITALIAN TRANSLATION SKILLS OF A SIGNIFICANT CHOICE OF PROSE AND POETRY TEXTS BY GREEK AUTHORS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT: - WILL BE FAMILIAR WITH THE APPROPRIATE TECHNIQUES FOR RENDERING GREEK TEXTS IN ITALIAN IN A CONSCIOUS AND CRITICAL MANNER - - WILL HAVE A THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING OF THE LINGUISTIC CHARACTERISTICS (LEXICON, MORPHOLOGY, SYNTAX, PROSODY, METRIC) OF THE GREEK LANGUAGE. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - TRANSLATING A COMPLEX GREEK TEXT INTO PROSE OR POETRY, INTO ITALIAN - COMMENT ON THE STRUCTURE, FORMS OF CONTENT AND MAIN THEMES OF THE TRANSLATED GREEK TEXTS AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - UNDERSTANDING THE TRANSFORMATION PROCESSES OF A TEXT INTO AN ORIGINAL LANGUAGE IN AND THEIR TRANSLATION INTO A DIFFERENT TARGET LANGUAGE COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - COMMUNICATING AND JUSTIFYING THEIR INTERPRETATIVE CHOICES. - MAKING A WRITTEN TRANSLATION WHICH ALSO SHOWS A SOLID KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN LEARNING SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - USING THE MAIN COMPUTING RESOURCES FOR LEXICAL ANALYSIS. |

TO THIS END, PRACTICAL EXERCISES WILL BE OFFERED BASED ON A SELECTION OF ANCIENT LITERARY TEXTS, BOTH PROSE AND POETRY. WE WILL ALSO DISCUSS KEY ISSUES ADDRESSED BY TRANSLATION THEORY |
