Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE BASIC SKILLS FOR THE INTERPRETATION OF TEXTS BELONGING TO DIFFERENT GENRES OF ARCHAIC AND CLASSICAL GREEK LITERATURE AND THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF ANCIENT GREEK LANGUAGE.

*KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT
- HE WILL KNOW THE BASIC CHARACTERISTICS OF LITERARY ACTIVITY IN ANCIENT GREECE AND THE MAIN ASPECTS OF THE VARIOUS LITERARY GENRES COVERED.
- WILL KNOW THE FIRST PHONETIC AND MORPHOLOGICAL ELEMENTS OF THE GREEK LANGUAGE.
- WILL INCLUDE THE BASIC METHODOLOGIES FOR AN EFFECTIVE APPROACH TO THE MAIN THEMES OF ANCIENT LITERARY HISTORY AS UNDERSTOOD IN THEIR DIACHRONIC DEVELOPMENT.

*ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- INTERPRETING AND COMMENTING APPROPRIATELY ON GREEK TEXTS EXAMINED IN ITALIAN TRANSLATION.
- OUTLINE THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE VARIOUS LITERARY GENRES OF ANCIENT LITERATURE.
- READING AND INTERPRETING SHORT ELEMENTARY TEXTS AND PHRASES IN ANCIENT GREEK
- RECOGNISING THE BASIC ELEMENTS AND BASIC STRUCTURES OF THE GREEK LANGUAGE.

- ASSESSING THE MAIN LINES OF DEVELOPMENT OF GREEK THOUGHT, SOCIETY AND CULTURE, ALSO IN CONTEXTS OTHER THAN THE LITERARY CONTEXT

- LESSONS ARE CONDUCTED WITH A SEMINARIAN AND PARTICIPATED METHOD, WITH FURTHER INFORMATION AND CLASS DISCUSSIONS ON THE MAIN HISTORICAL-INTERPRETATIVE PROBLEMS. DISPENSE WILL BE SUPPLIED ON THE MOST IMPORTANT TEXTS. - EXECUTIVE ACTIVITIES FOR THE EXERCISE OF READING, TRANSLATION AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE GREEK TEXT IN THE HALL - ARE INTENDED LECTURES AND SEMINARS OF INSIGHT HELD BY STUDIOSIS EXPERTS OF CERTAIN ARGUMENTS SUBJECT OF STUDY WITH THE COMPRESENCE IN THE CLASSROOM OF THE PROFESSOR.

- THE CAPACITY OF ANALYSIS OF ONE OR MORE GREEK TEXTS IN ITALIAN TRANSLATION
- THE ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE AND ANALYZE THE MAIN TOPICS OF THE GREEK ANCIENT CULTURE
- ABILITY OF INTERPRETATION AND COMMENT OF GREEK TEXTS SUPPLIED IN ITALIAN TRANSLATION;
- READING AND MORPHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF A SHORT PIECE IN GREEK LANGUAGE BETWEEN ONE OF THE CLASSICAL TEXTS SUBJECT TO STUDY;
- ABILITY TO EXPRESS THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ITS ORIGINAL REFLECTIONS ON THEMSELVES IN A CLEAR, CORRECT AND EFFECTIVE MANNER.
THE MAXIMUM GRADE (30L) REQUIRES ACCURATE AND COMPLETE ANSWERS TO ALL QUESTIONS POSED DURING THE ORAL EXAMINATION. THE EXAM WILL BE DEEMED TO HAVE BEEN PASSED (WITH VARIABLE EVALUATION DEPENDING ON THE QUALITY OF THE ANSWERS) IF THE CANDIDATE HAS ANSWERED IN A PRECISE AND COMPLETE MANNER TO MOST QUESTIONS.THE GRADING SCALE GOES FROM 1 TO 30 WITH HONOURS (CUM LAUDE): 1-17 FAIL, 18-21 SUFFICIENT, 22-24 FAIR, 25-27 GOOD, 28-29 VERY GOOD, 30-30 WITH HONOURS (CUM LAUDE) EXCELLENT.
