THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE AN IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF LATIN PHILOSOPHICAL LEXICON, WITH A PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO SPECIFIC AREAS OF INTEREST.

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO READ THE LATIN TEXT, IDENTIFY ITS MOST RELEVANT FORMAL AND CONTENT-RELATED ASPECTS, AND DISCUSS THEM BY COMPARING DIFFERENT OR SIMILAR PASSAGES AND/OR LINGUISTIC ELEMENTS.

Contents
THE WORDS OF POWER.
THE COURSE WILL ANALYZE THE EVOLUTION OF TERMS RELATED TO THE EXERCISE OF POWER BETWEEN THE 2ND AND 14TH CENTURIES, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTION, THEOLOGICAL THOUGHT, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY INSTITUTIONAL STRUCTURES (CHURCH AND KINGDOMS).
Teaching Methods
IN EACH LECTURE, A TEXTUAL PASSAGE WILL BE READ, TRANSLATED, AND COMMENTED ON TO HIGHLIGHT ITS FORMAL, LEXICAL, AND PHILOSOPHICAL SPECIFICITIES.
Verification of learning
THE VERIFICATION WILL BE DONE THROUGH THE EXAMINATION. THE EXAMINATION INVOLVES READING OF SELECTED PASSAGES AND A DISCUSSION OF THE TEXT AIMED AT VERIFYING NOT THE TRANSLATION SKILLS (WHICH ARE NOT REQUIRED), BUT RATHER THE ABILITY TO NAVIGATE THE FORMAL, LINGUISTIC, AND SPECULATIVE STRUCTURES OF THE EXAMINED TEXT.
