THE TEACHING HAS AS SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES TO DEVELOP THE RELEVANT ASPECTS IN THE STUDY OF SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE DEFINITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF COMPOSITE INDICATORS. STARTING FROM THE CONSULTATION OF FREELY ACCESSIBLE DATABASES (OPEN DATA) AND INDICATORS ON A SPATIAL BASIS, THE TECHNIQUES OF EXTRACTION, INTEGRATION AND ORGANIZATION OF DATABASES ARE PRESENTED. THE MAIN STATISTICAL METHODS OF EXPLORATORY DATA ANALYSIS ARE ADOPTED FOR THE DEFINITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF COMPOUND INDICATORS RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH THE USE OF STATISTICAL SOFTWARE. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT WILL RESULT IN THE ABILITY TO EXTRACT OPEN DATA ON A SPATIAL BASIS AND TO APPLY STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL DATA ANALYSIS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF COMPOSITE INDICATORS ON SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO DRAFT RESEARCH REPORTS ACCOMPANIED BY ILLUSTRATIVE INDICATORS AND GRAPHS, DEVELOPING AN ABILITY TO AUTONOMOUSLY INTERPRET DATA AND INFORMATION, INCLUDING CRITICAL REFLECTION ON THE SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES INVESTIGATED. |
