Objectives
THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO FOSTER THE UNDERSTANDING AND APPLICATION OF CONCEPTUAL AND COGNITIVE TOOLS OF THE DISCIPLINE IN RELATION TO THE SOCIOLOGICAL READING OF CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL PHENOMENA AND THE RESOLUTION OF SPECIFIC PROBLEMS IN THE WORKPLACE. THE COURSE ALSO AIMS TO FOSTER IN STUDENTS THE ABILITY TO CRITICALLY APPLY THE THEORETICAL TOOLS AND CONCEPTS THEY HAVE LEARNED, WITH REFERENCE TO METHODOLOGICAL AND ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY ABILITY TO JUDGE IN THE WORKPLACE SO THAT THEY MIGHT KNOW HOW TO APPLY WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED IN A COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT WAY.

Contents
THE EDUCATIONAL AIM OF THE COURSE OF SOCIOLOGY IS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF SOME PARADIGMS OF CLASSICAL AND CONTEMPORARY SOCIOLOGICAL THEORIES. THE COURSE CONSISTS OF TWO PARTS: AN INSTITUTIONAL AND A MONOGRAPHIC. WITH THE FIRST, THE COURSE EXPLORES SOCIOLOGICAL THEORIES, CONCEPTS AND AUTHORS BELONGING TO CLASSICAL AND CONTEMPORARY SOCIOLOGY; WITH THE SECOND, IT EXPLORES THE THEME OF SOCIAL CAPITAL, ONE OF THE CONCEPTS IN VOGUE IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIOLOGICAL DISCIPLINE.
Teaching Methods

THE COURSE WILL USE TRADITIONAL TEACHING METHODS, ORAL EXPOSITION OF THE TOPICS, AS WELL AS INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES , WITH THE HELP OF ELECTRONIC TOOLS. IT WILL, HOWEVER, ALSO PROMOTE COMMUNICATION IN THE CLASSROOM BY STRONGLY SUPPORTING DISCUSSION AND THE INTERVENTION OF THE STUDENTS, SO AS TO FACILITATE THEIR ACTIVE AND ENGAGING SKILLS. FINALLY, THE COURSE AIMS TO FACILITATE STUDENTS' LEARNING ABILITY BY ACTIVATING THE POSSIBLE CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION TO ENHANCE THEIR INVOLVEMENT AND LAND INCREASE THEIR LEVEL OF ATTENTION.
Verification of learning
ORAL EXAMINATION WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE COMMUNICATIVE ABILITIES OF THE STUDENT AND HIS/HER CRITICAL-DESCRIPTIVE ABILITIES OF THE MATTERS SUBMITTED TO VERIFICATION.
