THE COURSE AIMS TO DEVELOP IN THE STUDENT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OF ADVANCED UNDERSTANDING THAT ALLOW HIM TO DEVELOP CORRECT INTERPRETATIONS. THE AIM OF THIS COURSE IS TO DEVELOP IN THE STUDENT THE SKILLS NECESSARY FOR THE ANALYSIS, VERIFICATION AND APPLICATION OF THE MAIN SOCIOLOGICAL THEORIES IN THE FIELD OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION. |

THE ‘SOCIOLOGY OF EUROPE’ COURSE PROPOSES TO BRING TO THE ATTENTION OF STUDENTS THE CONTRIBUTION THAT THE SOCIAL THEORY OFFERS IN THE UNDERSTANDING AND INTERPRETATION OF THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY AND OF THE UNDERLYING PROCESSES OF EUROPEANIZATION. IN PARTICULAR, THE THEME OF THIS COURSE IS TO DEVELOP A THEORETICAL AND EMPIRICAL KNOWLEDGE ON SOME OF THE KEY THEMES IN THE BUILDING OF THE EUROPEAN SOCIAL SPACE, THROUGH THE USE OF A SOCIOLOGICAL APPROACH. IT IS STRUCTURED IN TWO PARTS: FIRST PART: HERE ARE DESCRIBED THE DIFFERENT NARRATIONS OF THE EUROPEANIZATION PROCESSES THAT CHARACTERIZE THE STORY OF THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS OF EUROPEAN SOCIETY: THE TRIUMPHANT, BANAL, EUROSCEPTIC AND CRISIS EUROPEANIZATION SECOND PART: HERE IS THE READING OF THE PROCESS OF EUROPEANIZATION IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF AN INTERPRETATIVE PARADIGM, THE 'COSMOPOLITAN' PARADIGM |

THE COURSE WILL USE TRADITIONAL TEACHING METHODS, ORAL EXPOSITION OF THE TOPICS, AS WELL AS INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES, WITH THE HELP OF ELECTRONIC TOOLS. IT WILL, HOWEVER, ALSO PROMOTE COMMUNICATION IN THE CLASSROOM BY STRONGLY SUPPORTING DISCUSSION AND THE INTERVENTION OF THE STUDENTS, SO AS TO FACILITATE THEIR ACTIVE AND ENGAGING SKILLS. FINALLY, THE COURSE AIMS TO FACILITATE STUDENTS' LEARNING ABILITY BY ACTIVATING THE POSSIBLE CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION TO ENHANCE THEIR INVOLVEMENT AND LAND INCREASE THEIR LEVEL OF ATTENTION. |

THE EVALUATION OF LEARNING WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH THE ORAL INTERVIEW ON THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE. THE VOTE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS MORE EVENTUAL 'DISTINCTION', IS DETERMINED BY THE LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE FOR EACH OF THE FOLLOWING DIMENSIONS OF THE ORAL EXPOSITION: COMMUNICATION SKILLS, CRITICAL-DESCRIPTIVE SKILLS OF THE QUESTIONS SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION, APPROPRIATENESS OF DEFINITIONS AND THEORETICAL REFERENCES, MASTERY OF CONTENTS. THE 'DISTINCTION' IS GIVEN WHEN THE CANDIDATE DEMONSTRATES SIGNIFICANT MASTERY OF THE METHODOLOGIES AND TOOLS AND SHOWS REMARKABLE OWNERSHIP OF LANGUAGE AND AUTONOMOUS PROCESSING SKILLS. IT IS POSSIBLE TO PRESENT PAPERS BY THE STUDENTS, TO BE SUBMITTED FOR FINAL EVALUATION AND WHICH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DETERMINATION OF THE FINAL VOTE. |
