Teaching Methods
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF LECTURES (20 HOURS), CLASSROOM EXERCISES (10 HOURS), AND LABORATORY EXPERIENCES (6 HOURS). THE LECTURES WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MODELS AND THEORIES ON ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. THE EXERCISES AND LABORATORY EXPERIENCES WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE THEORETICAL MODELS AND MANAGERIAL TOOLS THEY HAVE LEARNED, INCLUDING THE USE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES. THE COURSE INCLUDES THE DEVELOPMENT OF A GROUP PAPER AIMED AT ANALYZING ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR IN A REAL-WORLD CONTEXT. THIS PAPER WILL BE DISCUSSED WITH THE PROFESSOR AND COURSE COLLEAGUES DURING TWO HOURS OF CLASS TIME, AND, IF NECESSARY, MAY BE THE SUBJECT OF INDIVIDUAL DISCUSSIONS DURING THE PROFESSOR'S OFFICE HOURS.
CLASSROOM ATTENDANCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF AN ORAL TEST LASTING ABOUT 15 MINUTES, WHICH ALSO INCLUDES A DISCUSSION OF THE GROUP PROJECT. THE TEST AIMS TO ASSESS THE STUDENT'S ABILITY, BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND IN GROUPS, TO IDENTIFY THE DYNAMICS OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND TO APPLY THE MOST APPROPRIATE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT TOOLS TO THE ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT UNDER ANALYSIS. THE FINAL EXAM SCORE WILL DEPEND ON THE DEPTH OF THE PPROJECT WORK, THE STUDENT’S ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY CONTEXTUALIZE THE THEORETICAL MODELS LEARNED WITHIN REAL ORGANIZATIONAL SCENARIOS, THEIR ABILITY TO PRESENT CONTENT CLEARLY, AND THEIR CAPACITY TO CRITICALLY DISCUSS THE ARGUMENTS INTRODUCED. THE MINIMUM SCORE ON THE ORAL EXAM REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR, HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT LEVERS, MOTIVATION THEORIES, AND LEADERSHIP MODELS. THE HIGHEST SCORE IS AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES THE ABILITY TO ACCURATELY, COMPREHENSIVELY, AND CRITICALLY ILLUSTRATE ALL THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE. HONORS ARE GRANTED FOR EXCEPTIONAL ANALYTICAL ABILITY, RATIONAL AND INTUITIVE THINKING, AND THE ADEPT CONTEXTUALIZATION OF COMPLEX ORGANIZATIONAL SCENARIOS.
