THE MAIN GOAL OF THE COURSE IS A COMPLETE AWARENESS ABOUT THE GLOBAL AND EUROPEAN HISTORY BETWEEN THE END OF 19TH AND THE BEGINNING OF THE 21ST CENTURY. THE COURSE AIMS AT SHAPING SOLID KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE POLITICAL AND SOCIAL HISTORY, ANALYSING THE BIRTH OF THE NATIONAL STATES, THE GROWTH OF THE MASS SOCIETY, THE BIRTH OF THE MODERN POLITICS, THE BIG IDEOLOGICAL E GEOPOLITICAL CONFLICTS. THE STUDENT HAS TO SHOW A GOOD COMPETENCE OF THE MAIN HISTORICAL PROCESSES AND THE INTERPRETATIVE MODELS OF THE CONTEMPORARY HISTORY. |

THE COURSE WILL HAVE A GENERAL PART ABOUT THE MAIN PHASES OF THE GLOBAL CONTEMPORARY HISTORY: THE AGE OF THE EMPIRES AND THE MASS SOCIETY (1870-1914), THE AGE OF THE EUROPEAN CIVIL WAR (1914-1941), THE AGE OF THE COMPARISON OF THE BLOCS (1941-1989), THE GLOBALIZED OR MULTIPOLAR WORLD (1989-2015). THIS SECTION WILL BE ABOUT THE MAIN EVENTS AND THE HISTORIC-POLITICAL PROCESSES OF EVERY SEASON BOTH OF THE EUROPEAN AND GLOBAL HISTORY, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE MOST UPDATED INTERPRETATIONS IN THE ITALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL HISTORIOGRAPHY. THE MONOGRAPHIC PART WILL BE ABOUT THE POLITICAL VIOLENCE AND THE MOST IMPORTANT GENOCIDES OF THE 21ST CENTURY. IN PARTICULAR TWO CASES WILL BE STUDIED: THE EASTERN EUROPE, THE AREA BETWEEN GERMANY AND RUSSIA DURING HITLER AND STALIN’S POWER AND MAO’S CHINA. |

THE COURSE PUTS THE LESSONS WITH A PERIODICAL CHECK OF THE STUDIES IN ORDER TO KNOW TWO POINTS: IN ONE HAND, THE ITALIAN CONTEMPORARY HISTORY, ON THE OTHER HAND, THE DEFINITION OF THE CONCEPTS AND THE EXPERIENCES OF THE MODERN GENOCIDES. BESIDES, AUDIO-VISUALS AND LITERATURE WILL BE UTILIZED IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE EVENTS OF THE 20TH AND THE LAST YEARS. |

THE CHECK OF THE STUDY WILL BE PUT INTO PRACTICE THROUGH THE CONTINUE DIALOGUE WITH THE STUDENTS. SOME OPERATIVE INSTRUMENTS WILL BE CREATED THANKS TO FACEBOOK AND A WEBSITE TO WORK QUICKLY WITH THE CLASSROOM EVERY DAY. THE ORAL EXAM WILL BE ABOUT THE TEXTS ADOPTED. |
