Objectives
THE MAIN GOAL OF THE COURSE IS A COMPLETE AWARENESS ABOUT BETWEEN HISTORY OF STATE INSTITUTIONS THE 18TH AND THE BEGINNING OF THE 21ST CENTURY. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE IS A SERIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROFILE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF CONTEMPORARY INSTITUTIONS, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE POLITICAL, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL FIELDS WHICH GAVE THE BIRTH OF THE NATIONAL STATE AND THE SIMULTANEOUS DEVELOPMENT OF THE IMPERIAL SYSTEMS. THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO REACH SOLID KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE GEOPOLITICAL, SOCIAL AND CIVIL CONFLICTS, HIGHLIGHTING THE COMPARISON BETWEEN THE MEDITERRANEAN AND THE ATLANTIC WORLD, THE LINKS AND THE DIFFERENCES, IN RELATION TO THE POLITICAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY, ARTS AND SOCIETY

THE STUDENT SHOULD HAVE GOOD BASE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE 1800S E 1900S.

THE COURSE WILL HAVE A GENERAL PART ABOUT THE FORMATION OF AND DEVELOPMENT OF INSTITUTIONS OF THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD CONTEMPORARY WORLD IS AT THE BASIS OF THE STUDIES OF THE COURSE THROUGH WHICH IT IS POSSIBLE TO OBSERVE THE GROWTH OF THE ATLANTIC REVOLUTIONS AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE FIRST TOTAL WAR (1776-1825) IN THE ATLANTIC AND THE MEDITERRANEAN WORLD, THE BIRTH OF NEW STATES AND THE TRANSFORMATION OF ANCIENT INSTITUTIONS, ANALYZING THE PROCESSES AND THE POLITICAL, MILITARY AND CULTURAL CONFLICT AND THE STABILIZATION OF THE MODERN NATIONAL PROJECTS (1880-1920) AND THE PHASE OF THE COMPETITION-INTERPENETRATION OF NATIONS AND EMPIRES (1920-2008).. THE MONOGRAPHIC SECTION WILL BE ABOUT SOME ORIGINAL STUDY CASES IN ORDER TO ANALYZE THE DIFFERENT STEPS OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE STATE AND NATION EXPERIENCES, CHECKING LINKS AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN IMPERIAL MODELS AND NATIONAL PROJECTS. A PARTICULAR ROLE WILL BE GIVEN TO THE AUDIO-VISUAL AND LITERARY MATERIAL.
Teaching Methods

THE COURSE IS CHARACTERIZED BY A SEMINARIAN FORMULA IN ORDER TO SUPPORT AN APPROACH AND A CONTINUE DIALOGUE ABOUT THE MAIN TOPICS FACED WITH THE STUDENT WHICH HAVE AN ADVANCED LEVEL THROUGH NEW TEXTS. SOME BRIEF SEMINARS WILL BE ADDED TO EXAMINE TWO TOPICS: THE INTRODUCTION TO THE DEBATE ABOUT THE GLOBAL HISTORY. BESIDES, AUDIOVISUALS AND 1800’S AND 1900’S LITERATURE WILL BE UTILIZED.

Verification of learning
THE DIALOGUE AND THE ACADEMIC APPROACH WITH THE CLASSROOM WILL BE THE WAY TO STUDY DURING THE COURSE. SOME OPERATIVE INSTRUMENTS WILL BE CREATED THANKS TO FACEBOOK AND A WEBSITE TO WORK QUICKLY WITH THE CLASSROOM EVERY DAY.
THE ORAL EXAM WILL BE ABOUT THE TEXTS ADOPTED.
