Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH KNOWLEDGE, TOOLS AND METHODS TO UNDERSTAND MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY, WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO FURTHER DEVELOP SKILLS FOR TEACHING ACTIVITY.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
- ANALYSE THE MOST RECENT RESULTS OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL HISTORIOGRAPHY CONCERNING THE MAIN PHENOMENA OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY;
- DEVELOP TOOLS AND METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF INNOVATIVE RESULTS OF HISTORIOGRAPHY CONCERNING THE MAIN THEMES OF GLOBAL HISTORY AND POLITICAL PHENOMENA OF THE CONTEMPORARY AGE;
- IDENTIFY DIDACTIC METHODOLOGIES FOR THE DISSEMINATION OF COMPLEX HISTORIOGRAPHICAL KNOWLEDGE TO HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS;
- FACILITATE THE USE OF DIDACTIC MATERIAL, MANUALS AND TEXTS FUNCTIONAL TO AN ADEQUATE HISTORIOGRAPHIC UPDATING.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
DURING THE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY METHODS AND FORMS OF KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED BY THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:
- SIMULATE AND EXPERIMENT THE DESIGN OF TEACHING MODULES WITH REFERENCE TO TIME, CONTENTS, OBJECTIVES AND TOOLS, ADAPTING THEM TO POTENTIAL RECIPIENTS, MINISTERIAL PROGRAMS AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS;
- USE OF DISCIPLINARY CONTENTS FOR PREPARING TESTS AND EXERCISES;
- DESIGN METHODOLOGIES FOR STRUCTURING EX ANTE, IN ITINERE AND EX POST EXAMS.
Prerequisites
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY EUROPEAN HISTORY IS REQUIRED; AS WELL AS GOOD BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY OF CONTEMPORARY ITALY.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:

- DEVELOP TOOLS AND METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF INNOVATIVE RESULTS OF HISTORIOGRAPHY CONCERNING THE MAIN THEMES OF GLOBAL HISTORY AND POLITICAL PHENOMENA OF THE CONTEMPORARY AGE;
- IDENTIFY DIDACTIC METHODOLOGIES FOR THE DISSEMINATION OF COMPLEX HISTORIOGRAPHICAL KNOWLEDGE TO HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS;
- ANALYZE HISTORICAL PATHS OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY AGE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TEACHING MODELS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAMINATION INCLUDES A FINAL EXAMINATION, INCLUDING THE PRESENTATION OF A PROJECT WORK AND A LESSON, APPROPRIATELY AGREED WITHIN THE COURSE, DURING WHICH STUDENTS SHALL PROVE THAT THEY HAVE ACQUIRED THE MAIN CONTENTS IN A CRITICAL WAY AND KNOW HOW TO APPLY THEM IN RELATION TO THE TEACHING ACTIVITIES IN MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY. THEY SHALL ALSO DISCUSS THE TEXTS INDICATED DURING THE COURSE.
MORE PRECISELY, THEY SHALL DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY:
- KNOW HISTORIOGRAPHICAL QUESTIONS PROPOSED IN THE COURSE;
- KNOW BOTH THE TOOLS OF THE DISCIPLINE AND ITS TEACHING STRATEGIES;
- ARE ABLE TO DESIGN TRAINING MODULES WITH REFERENCE TO OBJECTIVES, CONTENTS, TEACHING METHODS, INSTRUMENTS, EXERCISES AND FINAL TESTS.
