Objectives
THE COURSE PROVIDES THE THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ISSUES OF THE LIGHT PROPAGATION IN THE OPTICAL FIBERS USED IN TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, IN SENSOR AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS, AS WELL.
THE COURSE CONTAINS A SIGNIFICANT PART WITH LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS.


KNOWLEDGE OF OPTICAL FIBERS, OPTICAL FIBER SENSORS AND OF THE APPLICATIONS IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND IN INDUSTRIAL AND CIVIL FIELD.

CAPABILITY OF HANDLING OPTICAL FIBERS AND MEASURING THEIR TRANSMISSION CHARACTERISTICS


CAPABILITY OF WORKING IN A LABORATORY, RECOGNIZING OPTICAL INSTRUMENTATION AND EQUIPPING THE INSTRUMENTAL SET-UP FOR FIBER OPTICS MEASUREMENTS

CAPABILITY OF WORKING BOTH ALONE AND IN A TEAM, WRITING CLEAR AND ORGANIZED TECHNICAL REPORTS, READING TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE AND COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY.

Prerequisites
THE COURSE REQUIRES THE KNOWLEDGE OF FOLLOWING TOPICS: GENERAL THEOREMS OF THE ELECTROMAGNETISMS, WAVE PROPAGATION IN FREE SPACE, WAVE PROPAGATION IN WAVEGUIDES.
