Objectives
-KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
ACHIEVING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN ORDER TO DEEPLY UNDERSTAND THE DEVELOPMENT PATHS OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMY SINCE MODERN AGE, HIGHLIGHTING THE DIFFERENT TYPOLOGIES OF STATE INTERVENTION, PUBLIC ENTERPRISES AND THE PUBLIC/PRIVATE BALANCE.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND ANALYSING SKILLS TO ADVANCED STAGES OF STATE INTERVENTION, FROM MAIN HISTORICAL ASPECTS OF THE “ENTREPRENEURIAL STATE” UNTIL THE MOST RECENT THEORIES OF WELFARE STATE AND RELATED REDISTRIBUTIVE POLICIES, WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON ITALY AND ITS PRIVATISATIONS.
-MAKING JUDGEMENTS
INTERPRETATION, IN HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE, OF STATE INTERVENTION BY TEACHING-LEARNING ACTIVITIES (LECTURES, WORKSHOPS, TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL REPORT, CASE-STUDIES DISCUSSION) DIRECTED TO DATA COLLECT, QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS AND CRITICAL EVALUATION OF MOST RECENT SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE.
-COMMUNICATION SKILLS
COMMUNICATION SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, TO COUCH DOCUMENTED AND CLEAR INFORMATION, IDEAS AND PROBLEM SOLVING ABOUT NONCONCURRENT MARKETS, PUBLIC GOODS, EXTERNALITIES, INCOMPLETE MARKETS, ASYMMETRIC INFORMATION, PUBLIC INTERVENTION AND SYSTEMS’MACROECONOMIC PERFORMANCES RELATIONSHIPS.
-LEARNING ABILITY
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO ANALYSE DIFFERENT PROBLEMS POINTED OUT BY STATE INTERVENTION, BASING ON ADQUIRED FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AND LOGICAL METHODOLOGY, DEVELOPING SPECIFIC SKILLS USEFUL TO A DEEP CRITICAL ANALYSIS.

-THE EUROPEAN INDUSTRIALIZATION PROCESS (2 HOURS).
-COLONIALISM AND IMPERIALISM IN THE XIX CENTURY (1 HOUR).
-WAR ECONOMY (1 HOUR).
-THE GREAT DEPRESSION (2 HOURS).
-KEYNESIAN POLICIES (2 HOURS).
-AUTARCHY, DIRIGISME (1 HOUR).
-THE II WORLD WAR AND RECONSTRUCTION (1 HOUR).
-WELFARE STATE(1 HOUR).
- PUBLIC POICIES AND INDUSTRIAL SHAKE UP (2 HOURS).
-THE CONSTRAINTS TO STATE INTERVENTION (1 HOUR).
-THE WELFARE CRISIS AND THE PRIVATISATIONS (1 HOUR).
-STATE INTERVENTION AND GLOBALIZATION (2 HOURS).

-THE ITALIAN STATE INTERVENTION AFTER POLITICAL UNION (2 HOURS).
-THE DEVELOPMENT FACTORS (1 HOUR).
-THE FORMATION OF AN INDUSTRIAL BASE (1 HOUR).
-THE TRANSWAR YEARS (1 HOUR).
-AUTARCHY AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STATE (2 HOURS).
-ECONOMIC PROBLEMS OF THE AFTER WAR PERIOD (1 HOUR).
-THE ECONOMIC PLAN AND THE ITALIAN ECONOMY FAST GROWTH (1 HOUR).
-THE PRIVATISATIONS AND THE END OF THE STATE CAPITALISM (1 HOUR).
Teaching Methods
A) THIS TEACHING INCLUDES 30 HOURS, SO DISTRIBUTED:
-FRONT LESSONS (24 HOURS), PRACTICE (2 HOURS), CASE STUDY /DISCUSSION (4 HOURS)
Verification of learning
A)THE COURSE PROVIDES AN ORAL FINAL TEST, IN ORDER TO CHECK THE STUDENT'S CAPACITY TO CRITICALLY AND DIACRONICALLY ANALYZE THE MAIN SOCIO-ECONOMIC PHENOMENON STUDIED, IN DIFFERENT TERRITORIAL CONTESTS AND IN DIFFERENT PHASES OF WORLD ECONOMIC HISTORY.
B)THE ACHIEVING OF THE LEARNING GOALS IS CERTIFIED BY AN EXAMINATION WITH A FINAL SCORE EXPRESSED IN 1/30.
C)THE ORAL TEST IS BASED ON A SET OF SPECIFIC QUESTIONS TO ASSESS THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND COMPLETION CAPABILITY REACHED BY THE STUDENT. THE FINAL TEST WILL ALSO CHECK THE EXPOSURE CAPABILITY OF THE STUDENT TO USE THE APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY AND THE CAPACITY TO ORGANIZE AUTONOMOUSLY HIS/HER PRESENTATION.
D)THE TEST HAS A DURATION OF ABOUT 20 MINUTES, ARTICULATED IN 5 QUESTIONS, EVALUATED 1 TO 6 POINTS IS INTENDED POSITIVE UPON THE MINIMUM VOTE OF 18/30.
