Objectives
THE TEACHING OF ECONOMIC SOCIOLOGY IS DIVIDED INTO 6 MODULES OF 10 HOURS EACH FOR A TOTAL OF 60 HOURS. THE MODULE ORGANIZATION AIMS TO SIMPLIFY AND CLARIFY THE CONTENT OF THE PROGRAM IN ORDER TO DEEPEN THE CORE ISSUES AND ISSUES OF THE DISCIPLINE. ECONOMIC SOCIOLOGY IS A THEORETICAL AND RESEARCH FIELD THAT FOCUSES ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ECONOMY AND SOCIETY. THIS RELATIONSHIP IS OBSERVED ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVES AND CAN BE INVESTIGATED BY REFERRING TO A VARIETY OF CONTEXTS THAT INCLUDE THE BEHAVIORS, EFFECTS AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE ACTION OF INDIVIDUALS WHEN THEY ARE ENGAGED IN ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES.

THE MAIN KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED IS AS FOLLOWS:

• ORIGIN OF DISCIPLINE AND COMPARISON WITH CLASSICAL POLITICAL ECONOMY
• REFERENCE AUTHORS ON THE THEORETICAL LEVEL
• MAIN THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVES OF INTERPRETATION (OLD AND NEW ECONOMIC SOCIOLOGY, INDUSTRIAL SOCIOLOGY, ECONOMIC NEO-INSTITUTIONALISM, ETC.)
• THEORETICAL AND INTERPRETATIVE ELEMENTS RELATING TO THE FOLLOWING FIELDS OF ANALYSIS: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, MARKET FUNCTIONING, WELFARE SYSTEMS, LABOR MARKET, INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, JOB ORGANIZATION AND ANALYSIS OF WORKING CONDITIONS, FORMS OF ORGANIZATION OF THE ENTERPRISE.

THE MAIN SKILLS:

• IDENTIFICATION OF ECONOMIC PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOCIAL CONSEQUENCES
• CAPACITY REGARDING THE EXAMINATION OF CONFLICTING RELATIONSHIPS THAT MAY DERIVE FROM SOCIAL ELEMENTS IN THE SOCIAL SPHERE
• ABILITY TO USE SOCIO-ECONOMIC INDICATORS FOR THE DESCRIPTION OF TERRITORIAL CADRES
• ANALYTICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CAPABILITIES THAT MAY BE USEFUL FOR THE INVESTIGATION OF EVENTS UNSEEN OR FOR WHICH THERE IS NOT DATA OR SUFFICIENT INFORMATION
Prerequisites
ANY KNOWLEDGE DEEMED USEFUL IS RELATED TO SOME ELEMENTARY ECONOMICS CONCEPTS WITH REFERENCE TO THE MAIN INDICATORS USED IN THIS DISCIPLINE, PARTICULARLY WITH REGARD TO THE ISSUE OF ECONOMIC / TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTERPRISE.

IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE EXAMINATION, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TRAINING OFFERED BY THE SOCIOLOGY STUDY COURSE, THE STUDENT MUST HAVE SUSTAINED AT LEAST ONE EXAMINATION BETWEEN INSTITUTION'S OF SOCIOLOGY AND HISTORY OF SOCIOLOGICAL THINKING.

• PROCESSES OF MODERNIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT ISSUES
• ASCENSION AND DECLINE OF THE KEYNESIAN STATE
• GLOBALIZATION AND VARIETIES OF CAPITALISMS

MODULE 4 (10 HOURS) – ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONING OF LABOR MARKET

• LABOR MARKET: PROBLEMS AND THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVES
• LABOR MARKET INDICATORS
• INSTITUTIONS, STATISTICAL SOURCES AND REGULATION OF LABOR MARKET

MODULE 5 (10 HOURS) – ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES AND TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT

• FIRMS AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT
• FORMS OF ORGANIZATION OF FIRMS
• INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT BETWEEN ECONOMY AND SOCIETY

MODULE 6 (10 HOURS) – WORK ORGANIZATION AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

• FORDISM, TOYOTISM AND WORK ORGANIZATION
• ECONOMY OF SERVICE AND DE-INDUSTRIALIZATION
• INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS ANALYSIS
Teaching Methods
TEACHING IS ORGANIZED IN THE FORM OF FRONTAL LESSONS FOR A TOTAL OF 51 HOURS, EXERCITATIONS (6 HOURS) AND SEMINARS WITH EXTERNAL EXPERTS FOR A TOTAL OF 3 HOURS IN THE CONTEXT OF THREE DIFFERENT LESSONS.

THE EXERCITATIONS ARE BASED ON WRITTEN TESTS AIMED AT LEARNING THE STUDENT WITH RESPECT TO THE ACQUISITION OF WRITING SKILLS, PROCESSING AND PROBLEMATIZING. SEMINARS WITH EXTERNAL INVITEES ARE INSTEAD DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A MORE DETAILED KNOWLEDGE, FOR EXAMPLE, OF A PHENOMENON, OF A PUBLIC POLICY RATHER THAN EXAMINING SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF A METHODOLOGICAL NATURE RELATED TO ONE OF THE TOPICS MET DURING COURSE.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY AN EVALUATION EXAM, WHICH PROVIDES FOR A RATING UP TO 30 POINTS (IN CENTS), WITH A MINIMUM OF 18 FOR PASSING THE EXAM. THE EXAM PROVIDES FOR A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL EXAM THAT TAKE PLACE ON DIFFERENT DAYS. THE ORAL TEST WILL BASED INITIALLY BE ON THE DISCUSSION OF THE RESULTS OF THE WRITTEN TEST AND THEN ON THE VERIFICATION OF THE LEARNING IN RELATION TO OTHER TOPICS OF THE PROGRAM. THE FINAL VOTE IS OBTAINED FROM THE SUM OF THE SCORES GIVEN IN THE FIRST AND SECOND TESTS.
THE WRITTEN TEST CONSISTS OF THE COMPOSITION OF A SHORT TEXT IN THE FORM OF OPEN QUESTIONS (THEORETICAL, COMMENTARY OF A GRAPH OR TABLE) WITH A DURATION OF 2 HOURS AND IS INTENDED TO VERIFY THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE ARGUMENTS AND THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN WRITING.
THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF A 25-MINUTE DISCUSSION AIMED AT ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE, THE CAPACITY OF ELABORATION OF THE ISSUES COVERED IN THE WRITTEN PART AND ABOUT THOSE ENVISAGED IN THE REST OF THE PROGRAM. THE ORAL TEST WILL ALSO ENABLE THE STUDENT TO USE THE LANGUAGE SKILLS AND TO ORGANIZER A AUTONOMOUS EXPOSURE ON THE AIMS OF THE DISCIPLINE WITH REFERENCES TO THEORETICAL AND APPLIED CONTENT AS WELL AS TO EVALUATE THE ABILITY TO PROCESS CRITICAL ANALYSES IN AN AUTONOMOUS FORM WITH RESPECT TO THEORETICAL ISSUES AND OF OTHER NATURE MET DURING THE COURSE.
