Objectives | |

By the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge on epidemiology and prevention, healthcare organization and planning. The student will be able to understand the meaning of health indicators, the general healthcare situation in our country, basic prophylaxis concepts, general knowledge of organization, programming, and healthcare economics, environmental and hospital hygiene. Students should be able to comprehend complex phenomena and issues in healthcare, relevant to the obstetric profession, placing them in a broader demographic-epidemiological, socio-cultural, and political-institutional context. They should understand obstetric-gynecological care processes linked to the evolution of health issues, the functioning of healthcare and social systems, and specific professional pathways. Moreover, by the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge related to the legal aspects concerning the profession. Knowledge and Understanding Skills: The course aims to provide students with the basic concepts necessary for healthcare organization, analyzed in the context of the national and international healthcare systems, particularly in maternal and child health. Students will be introduced to the main models of healthcare process management. They will also gain knowledge to understand the rights and duties of healthcare workers and the principles of healthcare service programming and organization in the maternal-child sector. Ability to Apply Knowledge and Understanding: By the end of the course, students should be able to apply management knowledge to all types of healthcare organizations. They should understand the primary models of production processes in complex contexts like healthcare, supporting organizational management and governance. Furthermore, they should be able to apply risk management principles, plan and participate in birth and parenthood support programs, organize health education and promotion interventions with a focus on sexually transmitted diseases, and collect, analyze, and interpret clinical-assistive data for research and evaluation of healthcare results. They should use their knowledge to analyze healthcare services' organizational models, resources, and processes focused on gender health protection, childbirth, and developmental stages. Additionally, students should be able to take responsibility for their actions in their professional practice, adhering to their professional profile and ethical code, respecting current regulations. Judgment Autonomy: Students should gradually gain autonomy in managing and implementing diagnostic-therapeutic procedures related to the health of women, newborns, and couples, working in a healthcare team at varying levels of care intensity. They will also demonstrate judgment autonomy in applying verification tools to assess the effectiveness of preventive interventions. Communication Skills: Students will develop the ability to present healthcare organizational levels, clinical governance, and corporate management, explaining organizational management choices in healthcare contexts. They will also learn to conduct effective interpersonal interviews with users of all ages and their families, as well as with other healthcare professionals, following a clear and methodical approach. Additionally, students will be able to guide and encourage users towards healthy choices, reinforcing coping skills, self-esteem, and available resources. They will also learn to manage communication skills for national and international exchanges and use teaching principles to conduct informative or educational interventions for individuals, families, groups, and other professionals such as support staff, midwifery students, and nursing students. Learning Skills: Students should be able to apply clinical and corporate governance models and tools, critically analyze healthcare management and organization aspects, and utilize the most suitable interpretive keys for understanding them. They should develop independent study skills, demonstrate the ability to embrace uncertainties in both study and practice, and be able to engage in self-learning, collaborative learning, and self-assessment within work teams. |

The course is divided into 3 modules: Healthcare Organization (1 ECTS, 12 hours), Nursing and Obstetric-Gynecological Sciences (2 ECTS, 24 hours), Labor Law (1 ECTS, 12 hours). Healthcare Organization Module (1 ECTS, 12 hours) Public Health: Article 32 of the Italian Constitution, National and Regional Health Fund, Public Health Activities, Health Protection and Production (3 hours). Healthcare System: Evolution and Comparison, Organization, People, and Resources of the National Health Service (SSN), Right to Health, Health Promotion and Protection (3 hours). Clinical Risk, Adverse Events, Sentinel Events, Near Miss, PTI – PAI – PDTA (Effective and Efficient Planning Tools) (3 hours). Health: Need, Demand, and Appropriateness, Health and Reproductive Process, Healthcare as a Productive Process, Management, and Market, Accreditation and Certification, Management System, Corporate Act, Strategic Pyramid, LEAs (3 hours). Nursing and Obstetric-Gynecological Sciences (2 ECTS, 24 hours) Guidelines, Protocols, Procedures, Processes, Flowcharts (3 hours). Benchmarking, Project Management, 5 Phases of the PDTA Project – Robson Classification (3 hours). Clinical Governance, Core Competencies, Core Curriculum, Core Values, Midwifery Competencies and Responsibilities: Post-Basic Training and Continuing Professional Development (ECM and ECTS) (3 hours). Midwifery and Partnership, Leadership and Leaders, Organizational Chart, Cause-Effect Diagram (3 hours). Pregnancy Term Clinics, Maternity Services Charter, Good Practices (AGENAS), DRG (3 hours). Centers of Level I, II, III: STAM and STEN, Risk Management, National Healthcare Reform, Cost Centers, Budget, Briefing; Accreditation; Certification; Appropriateness (Decree BRO) (3 hours). POMI Project – Maternal-Infant Health Project: Law No. 194/1978, Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART): Law No. 40/2004, the Counseling Center: Law No. 405/1975, Home Birth and Maternity Homes: Guidelines, Provisions, and Responsibilities of Healthcare Professionals (3 hours). Labor Law (1 ECTS, 12 hours) Work in the Constitution: Work in Fundamental Principles and Economic and Ethical-Social Relations, TSO, Informed Consent, TEAM Card, Protection of Female Workers in the Constitution, Gender Equality (3 hours). Teaching Methods | |

The course includes lectures, seminar activities on specific topics, and computer simulations, with a total duration of 48 hours. In order to take the final exam, students must have attended at least 75% of the required course hours. Attendance will be monitored using the EasyAcademy software |

FINAL EXAMINATION IN WRITTEN AND / OR ORAL FORM WITH ALLOCATION OF VOTE IN THIRTY-FIFTH, WITH REFERENCE TO ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, THE UNDERSTANDING ABILITY, THE JUDGMENT, THE COMMUNICABILITY AND THE CAPACITY OF NEW LEARNING FROM THEM. THE EXAM TEST IS AIMED TO EVALUATE THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO HAVE THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF THE DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES. The final grade is derived from the weighted average of the grades for the different modules. THE VOTE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTY-YEAR WITH EVENTUAL LODE, DEPENDS ON THE MATURITY ACQUIRED ON THE CONTENTS OF THE INTEGRATED COURSE. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE ALLOCATION OF THE LODE, YOU WILL TAKE ACCOUNT OF THE QUALITY OF THE EXHIBITION, IN TERMS OF THE USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE AND THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT DEMONSTRATED. |
