Objectives
THE COURSE SPECIFICALLY AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH KNOWLEDGE ON:
- THE GENERAL CONCEPTS OF PUBLIC HEALTH, DISEASE PREVENTION AND HEALTH PROMOTION
- THE BASICS OF EPIDEMIOLOGY, THE ORGANIZATION OF HEALTH SYSTEMS, HEALTH PLANNING AND ECONOMICS
- INFECTIOUS DISEASES, INFECTIONS, THEIR TRANSMISSION. EPIDEMIC MODELS AND PROPHYLAXIS
- THE MAIN EXAMPLES OF AIRBORNE, FECAL-ORAL, PARENTERAL AND SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES. HEALTHCARE-ASSOCIATED INFECTIONS, AS WELL AS POOR HYGIENE RELATED AND FOODBORNE INFECTIONS
- HEALTH AND PREVENTION AT VARIOUS STAGES OF LIFE, CHRONIC DEGENERATIVE DISEASES, NUTRITION AND FOOD
- HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT, POLLUTION, THE MAJOR ENVIRONMENTAL MATRICES: WATER, AIR, SOIL, AND HEALTH IN LIVING AND WORKING ENVIRONMENTS.

THE STUDENT WILL DEVELOP THE SKILLS TO:
- APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED IN THE STUDY AND RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE SCIENTIFIC AND PROFESSIONAL ROLE
- ENTER WITH AWARENESS IN THE THE WORK CHAIN FOR ACTIVITIES IN CLINICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORIES, MANAGEMENT OF PLANTS AND/OR HEALTH AND FOOD SYSTEMS
- WORK IN TEAMS IN THE FIELD OF DISEASE PREVENTION AND CONTROL AND THE ENVIRONMENT

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- AUTONOMOUSLY DEFINE THE CONTENTS ON PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES
- APPLY CRITICAL SENSE AND REASONING IN THE EVALUATION AND CHOICE OF STUDY METHOD
- DEVELOP OBSERVATION, REFLECTION AND DISCUSSION OF THE DATA COLLECTED AND/OR PROCESSED

INTERMEDIATE EXHONERATIVE TESTS ARE POSSIBLE.
THE MINIMUM GRADE (18/30) IS OBTAINED WHEN THE EXAM DEMONSTRATES THE ACHIEVEMENT OF A SUFFICIENT LEVEL IN KNOWLEDGE, LANGUAGE SKILLS, QUALITY OF PRESENTATION. THE MAXIMUM GRADE (30/30) IS REACHED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES WITH THE EXAM A FULL AND COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE AND PROPERTY OF LANGUAGE ON THE TOPICS ADDRESSED, WITH MAXIMUM QUALITY OF EXPOSITION AND ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE IN PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES. HONOURS ARE AWARDED WHEN THE EXAM DEMONSTRATES, IN ADDITION TO THE BEST POSSIBLE RESULT, A PARTICULAR QUALITY OF EXPOSITION WITH CRITICAL ANALYSIS SKILLS.
