Objectives
THE CLASS OF HYDROLOGY IS AIMED TO DEVELOP AND DEEPEN THE KNOWLEDGE NEEDED FOR THE CORRECT EVALUATION OF THE WATER RESOURCES AND OF THE HYDRAULIC RISK


KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
FROM A GENERAL POINT OF VIEW OF THE CLASS IS AIMED TO PROVIDE THE KNOWLEDGE AND MASTERY OF THE BASIC AND ADVANCED PRINCIPLES OF HYDROLOGY ACQUIRED THROUGH THE STUDY AND UNDERSTANDING OF TEXTBOOKS AND SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS AS WELL AS FROM THE ANALYSIS OF CASE STUDIES
FROM A SPECIFIC POINT OF VIEW THE CLASS IS AIMED TO PROVIDE THE KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE FOLLOWING ASPECTS:
- HYDROLOGIC CYCLE AND ITS PROCESSES
- TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES FOR HYDROLOGICAL MONITORING
- WATER RESOURCES EVALUATION FOR WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
FROM A GENERAL POINT OF VIEW THE CLASS IS AIMED TO PROVIDE THE ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF HYDROLOGICAL PRINCIPLES IN ORDER TO SOLVE PROBLEMS WITHIN INNOVATIVE AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES AND TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE AND ORIGINAL APPROACHES
FROM A SPECIFIC POINT OF VIEW THE CLASS IS AIMED TO PROVIDE THE SKILLS NEEDED TO:
- ANALYZE HYDROLOGICAL TIME SERIES
- CHARACTERIZE NATURAL RIVER BASINS
- EVALUATE THE MAIN TERMS IN THE HYDROLOGICAL BALANCE OF A WATERSHED
- EVALUATE THE HYDROLOGICAL EXTREMES WITH A PROBABILISTIC APPROACH

THE STUDENT WILL BE REQUIRED AT LEAST TO KNOW THE BASICS OF HYDROLOGY AS WELL AS TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE MATHEMATICAL MODELS USED IN THE PROJECT WORK. THE ABILITY OF USING THE CONCEPTS OF THE SUBJECT TO SOLVE NEW PROBLEMS WILL BE ALSO EVALUATED.
FOR THE ‘CUM LAUDE’ GRADE, WILL BE CONSIDERED:
