Objectives
THE STUDENT AT THE END OF THE COURSE SHOULD DEMONSTRATE HIS GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS METHODS.
IN DETAILS: HE SHOULD BE ABLE OF
-DESCRIBING THE DIFFERENT STEPS OF AN ANALYTICAL PROCEDURE WITH SPECIAL CONCERN ON THE ANALYSIS OF THE DATA AND THEIR RELIABILITY;
- USING GRAVIMETRIC AND VOLUMETRIC METHODS AS WELL AS ARRANGING THE STECHIOMETRIC CALCULATION NEEDED FOR THEIR USE;
- DESIGNING THE USE OF EXTRACTION, SEPARATION AND PURIFICATION TECHNIQUES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE VARIOUS CHROMATOGRAPHIC METHODS;
- READING A CHROMATOGRAM FOR QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS AND EVALUATING SEPARATION EFFICIENCY.
Prerequisites
TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE EXAM, THE STUDENT MUST HAVE PASSED THE EXAMINATION OF GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY. APPROPRIATE PROFICIENCY IN BASIC MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS AND STOICHIOMETRY AS WELL AS SOME KNOWLEDGE OF ORGANIC CHEMISTRY ARE ALSO REQUIRED.
