Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE MAIN PHONETIC, GRAMMATICAL, LEXICAL AND MORPHOSYNTACTIC ASPECTS OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE, AS WELL AS PROVIDING THE NECESSARY TOOLS FOR ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
-KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC MORPHOSYNTACTIC ASPECTS OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE;
-ABILITY TO PRODUCE AND UNDERSTAND BRIEF AND COHERENT TEXTS ON EVERYDAY TOPICS;
-ACHIEVEMENT OF LEVEL A2 OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
-ABILITY TO USE THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IN A VARIETY OF EVERYDAY SITUATIONS;
-UNDERSTANDING OF BRIEF ORAL AND WRITTEN TEXTS ABOUT EVERYDAY TOPICS;
-ABILITY TO TRANSLATE BRIEF CONTRASTIVE TEXTS.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS
-ABILITY TO REFLECT ON THE MECHANISMS OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE;
-ABILITY TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN BOTH COLLOQUIAL AND ACADEMIC REGISTERS.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
-ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN STANDARD SPANISH ON EVERYDAY TOPICS;
-UNDERSTANDING THE MAIN POINTS OF ORAL AND WRITTEN MESSAGES;

-ABILITY TO USE LANGUAGE LEARNING ONLINE TOOLS (DICTIONARIES, WEB PAGES, …);

NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IS REQUIRED.

SYSTEMATISATION AND PRACTICE OF THE MAIN PHONETIC, GRAMMATICAL, NOTIONAL AND LEXICAL ASPECTS, WITH LANGUAGE EXAMPLES TAKEN FROM EVERYDAY LIFE. THE COURSE GIVES SPECIAL ATTENTION TO CONTRASTIVE ASPECTS AND THE DIFFICULTIES USUALLY ENCOUNTERED BY ITALIAN SPEAKERS STUDYING SPANISH.
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO THREE TYPES OF CLOSELY RELATED ACTIVITIES
A) SYSTEMATIC ANALYSIS OF THE LANGUAGE IN ITS PHONETIC AND INTONATIVE, MORPHOSYNTACTIC, NOTIONAL-FUNCTIONAL AND LEXICAL ASPECTS WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO ITALIAN-SPANISH CONTRASTIVE PROBLEMS COMPLEMENTED WITH ASSISTED STUDY AND LINGUISTIC EXERCISES HELD BY LINGUISTIC COLLABORATORS:
HISTORY OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE (2 HOURS)
THE NOMINAL SYNTAGMA (10 HOURS + 26 HOURS OF EXERCISES):
THE SYLLABLE AND THE ACCENT; THE NOUN, TYPES OF NOUNS, GENDER AND NUMBER; THE ADJECTIVE: POSITION, DEGREES OF THE ADJECTIVE; THE NOUN DETERMINATION; PERSONAL PRONOUNS SUBJECT AND COMPLEMENT, HAY /ESTÁ-ESTÁN.
THE SPANISH VERBAL SYSTEM: (18 HOURS + 34 HOURS OF EXERCISES):
THE UNCONJUGATED FORMS OF THE VERB (2 HOURS)
THE CONJUGATED FORMS OF THE VERB:
THE INDICATIVE PRESENT: MORPHOLOGY AND USES (2 HOURS)
THE IMPERATIVE AFFIRMATIVE AND NEGATIVE (MORPHOLOGY OF THE PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE) (2 HOURS)
THE IMPERATIVE WITH COMPLEMENTARY PRONOUNS (2 HOURS)
PRETÉRITO PERFECTO: MORPHOLOGY AND USES, IMPERFECT: MORPHOLOGY AND USES (2 HOURS)
PRETÉRITO INDEFINIDO: MORPHOLOGY AND USES, (2 HOUR)
USES OF THE PRETÉRITO PERFECTO AND THE PRETÉRITO INDEFINIDO (2 HOURS)
PRETÉRITO PLUSCUAMPERFECTO: MORPHOLOGY AND USES (2 HOURS)
THE FUTURE: MORPHOLOGY AND USES (2 HOURS)

B) READING COMPREHENSION AND WRITTEN EXPRESSION (8 HOURS OF EXERCISES).
C) LISTENING COMPREHENSION AND ORAL EXPRESSION (10 HOURS OF EXERCISES).
THESE AREAS HAVE BEEN PLANNED AS A WHOLE AND ARE NOT ALTERNATIVES. EACH OF THEM PRESUPPOSES THE WORK DONE IN THE OTHERS.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE SHALL BE ORGANIZED IN TWO PARTIES:
A) GRAMMAR AND STARTING TO REFLECTIONS ON THE OPERATION OF THE LANGUAGE; STARTING THE STUDY OF ACADEMIC WRITING.
B) PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF PART A).
MODULE A) WORKS WITH FRONTAL LESSONS (STUDENT COMMITMENT FOR 30 HOURS). FOR THE LANGUAGE PRACTICAL STUDY ARE PROVIDED 80 HOURS OF EXERCISES AND 20 HOURS OF SELF-LEARNING ACTIVITIES GUIDED BY TEACHERS.
FREQUENCY MODES: EVEN IF NOT OBLIGATORY, IT IS DETERMINING FREQUENCY TO COURSE AND EXERCISES.
STUDENTS WHO CANNOT ATTEND LESSONS FOR SERIOUS REASONS MUST AGREE ON ADDITIONAL DIDACTIC ACTIVITIES WITH THE TEACHER.
LEARNING LANGUAGE: ITALIAN IN THE FIRST LESSONS. THE REST OF COURSE IN SPANISH.
Verification of learning
ATTENDING STUDENTS
ORAL EXAMINATION WITH MARK.
THE ORAL EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF AN ASSESSMENT OF THE GRAMMATICAL KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED DURING THE COURSE, A VOCABULARY TEST, A SHORT CONVERSATION ON TOPICS FROM EVERYDAY LIFE AND CURRENT AFFAIRS TO CERTIFY COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE AT A LEVEL A2 OF THE QCER.
NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS
ORAL EXAMINATION WITH A GRADE.
THE ORAL EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF AN ASSESSMENT OF THE GRAMMATICAL KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED DURING THE COURSE, A VOCABULARY TEST, A SHORT CONVERSATION ON TOPICS FROM EVERYDAY LIFE AND CURRENT AFFAIRS THAT ENABLES THE STUDENT TO DEMONSTRATE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE AT AN A2 LEVEL OF THE QCER.
