Objectives
THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE METHODOLOGICAL (AND PHILOLOGICAL) TOOLS FOR INTERMEDIAL ANALYSIS AND TO TACKLE, AT A THEORETICAL AND HERMENEUTIC LEVEL, THE PROBLEM OF COMPARING HOT AND COOL MEDIA STRATEGIES. THE COURSE AIMS TO DEVELOP THE STUDENTS’ CRITICAL ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND PLACE THE MAIN ASPECTS OF THE CULTURAL TRADITION (A PERENNIAL CONFLICT BETWEEN SIGHT AND SOUND, BETWEEN WRITTEN AND ORAL KINDS OF PERCEPTION AND ORGANIZATION OF EXISTENCE) INTO A HISTORICAL CONTEXT.

Teaching Methods
LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS, RHETORICAL AND STYLISTIC TOOLS FOR WRITTEN AND NON-WRITTEN TEXTS WILL BE CONSOLIDATED. SO THE ANALYSIS OF THE WORKS OF J.D. SALINGER AND JOSEPH HELLER WILL BE CLOSE READINGS. THE COURSE WILL PROVIDE METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS FOR IN-DEPTH TEXT ANALYSIS. DURING THE COURSE THE STUDENTS WILL BEGIN TO GAIN EXPERIENCE IN THE PROBLEMS OF RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION.
