Objectives
THE TEACHING IS AIMED TO AN UPPER INTERMEDIATE COMMUNICATION COMPETENCE IN ORDER TO DISCUSS ABOUT SOCIO-CULTURAL ASPECTS OF FRANCOPHONE COUNTRIES THROUGH COMPARATIVE FRENCH-ITALIAN CONSIDERATIONS, TO REACH STUDENTS TO DEVELOP THE FOUR COMPETENCES (WRITTEN AND ORAL COMPREHENSION AND PRODUCTION) AT B2 CONSOLIDATED LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK. AN ABILITY IS EXPECTED TO APPLY THE STUDIED RULES, TO UNDERSTAND AND COMMUNICATE, TO READ, TRANSLATE AND ANALYSE THE TEXTS OF THE PROGRAM, FOCUSING ON GRAMMAR RULES TO APPLY INDIPENDENTLY IN A FREE OR DONE EXERCISE THANKS TO A RICH AND ELABORATED VOCABULARY. STUDENTS HAVE TO SHOW TOOLS OF PRAGMATICS, SOCIOLINGUISTICS AND DISCOURSE ANALYSIS FOR A CRITICAL APPROACH TO LANGUAGE, ISSUES AND SPECIALIZED TEXTS, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO MEDIA AND POLITICAL LANGUAGE. THEY HAVE TO SHOW TO UNDERSTAND AND USE SELF-CONFIDENTLY EVERYDAY EXPRESSIONS AND SPECIALIZED LANGUAGE, TO RECOGNISE THE CORRECT LEARNING IN A EUROPEAN LANGUAGE AT A WORLDWIDE DIFFUSION TO AFFIRM ONE'S OWN IDEAS.

Prerequisites
GOOD BASIC LINGUISTIC COMPETENCES (A2 LEVEL) ARE NOT REQUIRED BUT ADVISABLE.

SPECIALIZED SEMINARS (INCLUDED INTERDISCIPLINARY ONES) AIMED AT ENHANCING STUDENTS’ SOCIO-CULTURAL AND COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCES.
SOME INTERMEDIATE TESTS DURING THE COURSE CAN BE DONE WHOSE EVALUATION CAN PARTIALLY REPLACE THE WRITTEN EXAM.
Teaching Methods
40 HOURS COURSE IN THE FIRST SENESTER.
THOUGH NOT COMPULSORY, ATTENDANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS CAN PREPARE THE PROGRAM AUTHONOMOUSLY, IN AGREEMENT WITH THE TEACHER.
ALL THE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN TAKING THE UCL EXAM HAVE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE TEACHER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER. CONSIDERING THE INTERDISCIPLINARY ASPECT OF THE COURSE, PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE WILL BE GIVEN TO WORK IN GROUP AND COOPERATIVE LEARNING. THE ATTENDANCE IS MADE OF AN ACTIVE AND REGULAR PARTICIPATION, IN CLASS AND WITH AN APPROPRIATE HOMEWORK. OTHERWISE IT DOES NOT LEAD TO THE STATUS OF ATTENDING.
Verification of learning
A WRITTEN TEST: A PAPER CONCERNING ONE OF THE ISSUES OF THE TEACHING TO FIX WITH THE TEACHER AND TO GIVE 5 WEEKS BEFORE THE EXAM. A 15-20 MINUTES ORAL EXAM IN A FLUENT FRENCH CONCERNING THE CONTENTS OF THE TEACHING.
