Objectives
THE COURSE INTENDS TO PROVIDE A SPECIALIZED THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL PREPARATION IN ORDER TO SET AND DEVELOP MULTI- AND INTER-DISCIPLINARY RESEARCH DESIGNED TO ESTABLISH A HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL LANDSCAPES SUCH AS FORMS OF SOCIAL AND CULTURAL PROJECTION OF PAST SOCIETIES, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN.
STUDENTS, THROUGH LECTURES SUPPORTED BY APPROPRIATED DIDACTIC AND COMPUTER TOOLS, WILL GAIN IN-DEPTH AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE OF THEMES RELATED TO THE LANDSCAPE ARCHAEOLOGY AND THE STRATEGIES OF RESEARCH, FROM THE HISTORICAL ISSUES OF TERRITORIAL CONTEXT ANALYZED DURING THE COURSE.THROUGH COLLECTIVE READING AND DISCUSSION OF THE MAIN SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE AND MORE RECENT CONTRIBUTIONS, STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS IN ORDER TO DEVELOP UNDERSTANDING OF INTERPRETATIVE PARADIGMS REGARDING OBJECTS, METHODS AND TECHNOLOGIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE THEMES DEALING WITH FORMS OF GLOBAL ANALYSIS OF TERRITORY. STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO CREATE AN INTERACTION BETWEEN THEIR HISTORICAL AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE AND OTHER FIELDS OF RESEARCH, SUCH AS DISCIPLINES RELATED TO OTHER SPHERES OF KNOWLEDGE TRADITIONALLY CONSIDERED DISTANT AND DIFFERENT (EARTH SCIENCES, INFORMATION SCIENCES, ETC.), SHOWING CRITICAL ATTITUDES AND JUDGEMENT.THE STUDY OF TEXTS BY ITALIAN AND FOREIGN AUTHORS CHARACTERIZED BY DIFFERENT METHODOLOGICAL AND HEURISTIC APPROACHES AIMS TO DEVELOP A CRITICAL MIND AND SHARPEN THE SKILLS OF JUDGING AND INTERPRETATION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENTS.
THE COURSE OBJECTIVE IS TO DEEPEN, AS A WHOLE, THE THEMES OF LANDSCAPE ARCHAEOLOGY.LANDSCAPE AS A CONTAINER OF COMPLEX REALITIES, THE RESULT OF DIFFERENT PHENOMENA AND THE INTERACTION BETWEEN MAN AND HIS ENVIRONMENT, FACTOR AND PRODUCT SET OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES AND BEHAVIOURS.

WILL PROVIDE INSIGHT ON THE HISTORY OF THE DISCIPLINE, METHODS AND STRATEGIES OF APPROACH AND STUDY OF A TERRITORY: FROM THE EXAMINATION OF ANCIENT SOURCES TREATMENT TO THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL RECORD THROUGH GIS APPLICATIONS, TO THE SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE CLASSIFICATION AND QUANTIFICATION OF MOBILE OBJECTS. THE ISSUES WILL BE DEEPENED THE ANALYSIS OF SPECIFIC MULTI-STRATIFIED REGIONAL CONTEXTS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO MODULES : THE FIRST, 25 HOURS AND THE SECOND MODULE (FIVE LESSONS OF 2 HOURS EACH).
THE TEACHING TOOLS SUPPORT ARE POWER POINT PROJECTIONS, VISITS AND WORKSHOPS.
Verification of learning
THE VERIFICATION PROCEDURES CONSIST IN DISCUSSION OF PAPERS AND FINAL EXAM. THE EXAM WILL ASSESS STUDENTS' ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE CLEARLY THE ASSAY AND LEARNED CONTENT KNOWLEDGE.
THE JUDGMENT WILL IN THIRTY, AND WILL TAKE ACCOUNT OF THE DOCUMENTS PRODUCED DURING THE COURSE.
