Objectives
1) GENERAL OBJECTIVE
THE COURSE INTRODUCES THE ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN FACTORS THAT ACT IN THE COGNITIVE PROCESS. IT THEREFORE TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION BOTH SOME GENETIC THEMES (PERCEPTION, MIND, LANGUAGE, JUDGMENT) AND SOME STRUCTURAL THEMES (REALITY, TRUTH, EXPLANATION, REPRESENTATION, VALUE) OF KNOWLEDGE.
2) KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL LEARN WHAT THE GENETIC, THEORETICAL AND PRAGMATIC COMPONENTS OF KNOWLEDGE ARE AND HOW THEY INTERACT. BASED ON THIS, IN ADDITION TO OBTAINING A PICTURE OF PHILOSOPHICAL EPISTEMOLOGY, HE WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND MORE GENERALLY HOW KNOWLEDGE WORKS IN INDIVIDUAL TRAINING AND IN SOCIETY.
3) ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO REALIZE A "KNOWLEDGE OF KNOWLEDGE", THAT IS TO UNDERSTAND HOW KNOWLEDGE IS FORMED AND WHAT IMPACT IT HAS ON INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE BEHAVIORS. THIS REFLECTIVE KNOWLEDGE WILL ENABLE HIM TO SELECT AND CRITICALLY EVALUATE THE DIFFERENT CAUSAL REPRESENTATIONS OF REALITY.
4) AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
THE STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO INDEPENDENTLY EVALUATE HOW A CAUSAL REPRESENTATION OF REALITY IS FORMED, LEARNING TO DISCERN THE CAPACITIES AND LIMITS OF THE DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHICAL MODELS OFFERED BY EUROPEAN THOUGHT. IN THIS WAY IT WILL DEVELOP A GREATER CRITICAL AWARENESS OF THE CULTURAL CONTEXT IN WHICH IT OPERATES.
5) COMMUNICATION SKILLS
THE STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC PHILOSOPHICAL LEXICON, CONSOLIDATED BY CLASSICAL AND MODERN LINGUISTIC KNOWLEDGE. THIS WILL FORM THE BASIS FOR TRANSFORMING KNOWLEDGE INTO ACTIVE SKILLS TO BE COMMUNICATED AND APPLIED IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS, ALSO THANKS TO THE USE OF DIGITAL TOOLS AND MEDIA PLATFORMS
6) LEARNING ABILITY
THE STUDENT MUST BE ABLE TO USE TRADITIONAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS, KNOWING HOW TO APPROPRIATELY IDENTIFY AND INTERPRET THE TEXTS AND THE CULTURAL HERITAGE AVAILABLE. ON THIS BASIS HE WILL BE ABLE TO CARRY OUT THE "LIFELONG LEARNING" ENVISAGED BY ADVANCED AND COMPLEX SOCIETIES

WHAT IS TRUTH?

THE COURSE ADDRESSES THIS FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION OF PHILOSOPHICAL DISCOURSE. TWO ASPECTS ARE FOCUSED ON: 1) THE NATURE OF OUR BELIEFS ABOUT THE WORLD ; 2) THE FOUNDATION AND GOALS OF OUR COGNITIVE AND ETHICAL CLAIMS.

THE COURSE DEVELOPS THESE ASPECTS THROUGH CONTEMPORARY ANALYTICAL DEBATE AND THROUGH APPROPRIATE REFERENCES TO CENTRAL MOMENTS IN THE HISTORY OF THOUGHT. THE BACKGROUND OF THE COURSE IS RELATIVISM: THE WIDESPREAD IDEA THAT EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE AND THAT ESPECIALLY IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL AGE THERE IS AN INEVITABLE OVERLAP BETWEEN TRUTH AND FICTION.

THEMATIC DIVISION OF THE COURSE

2) EPISTEMOLOGY AND TRUTH (6 H)
3) LOGIC AND TRUTH (6 H)
