Objectives
1) GENERAL OBJECTIVE
THE COURSE OFFERS THEMATIC INSIGHTS ON VARIOUS TOPICS OF METAPHYSICS, INTENDED AS AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE FIRST PRINCIPLES OF EXPERIENCE. IN THIS WAY THE STUDENT CAN DEEPEN AND BROADEN THE STUDY STARTED WITH MODULE A.
2) KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO ORIENT THEMSELVES IN THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF PHILOSOPHICAL KNOWLEDGE, IN ITS DISTINCTION BETWEEN GENERAL DISCIPLINES, PERTAINING TO THE FOUNDATIONS OF ANY CONCEPTION OF REALITY, AND SPECIAL DISCIPLINES, PERTAINING TO THE PECULIARITIES OF THE VARIOUS FIELDS OF EXPERIENCE. IN THIS WAY HE WILL LEARN TO IDENTIFY WHAT CHARACTERIZES A DISCOURSE ON THE FOUNDATIONS BOTH WITHIN THE PHILOSOPHICAL DISCIPLINES AND IN OTHER FORMS OF KNOWLEDGE.

3) ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL LEARN TO IDENTIFY WHAT THE FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS OF EACH FORM OF KNOWLEDGE ARE AND HOW THEY OPERATE. HE WILL LEARN TO EXAMINE THE LOGICAL STRUCTURES AS WELL AS THE PRACTICAL REPERCUSSIONS OF KNOWLEDGE (CULTURAL AND SYMBOLIC FORMS, ETHICAL-POLITICAL FORMS). ON THIS BASIS HE WILL BE ABLE TO ELABORATE IN SELF-REFLECTIVE AND CRITICAL TERMS THE WAY IN WHICH A GLOBAL REPRESENTATION OF REALITY IS CONSTRUCTED.

4) AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
THE STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO INDEPENDENTLY EVALUATE HOW A GENERAL REPRESENTATION OF REALITY IS FORMED, LEARNING TO DISCERN THE CAPABILITIES AND LIMITS OF THE DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHICAL MODELS OFFERED BY EUROPEAN THOUGHT. IN THIS WAY IT WILL DEVELOP A GREATER CRITICAL AWARENESS OF THE CULTURAL CONTEXT IN WHICH IT OPERATES.

5) COMMUNICATION SKILLS
THE STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC PHILOSOPHICAL LEXICON, CONSOLIDATED BY CLASSICAL AND MODERN LINGUISTIC KNOWLEDGE. THIS WILL FORM THE BASIS FOR TRANSFORMING KNOWLEDGE INTO ACTIVE SKILLS TO BE COMMUNICATED AND APPLIED IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS, ALSO THANKS TO THE USE OF DIGITAL TOOLS AND MEDIA PLATFORMS.
6) LEARNING SKILLS
THE STUDENT MUST BE ABLE TO USE TRADITIONAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS, KNOWING HOW TO APPROPRIATELY IDENTIFY AND INTERPRET THE TEXTS AND THE CULTURAL HERITAGE AVAILABLE. ON THIS BASIS HE WILL BE ABLE TO CARRY OUT THE "LIFELONG LEARNING" ENVISAGED BY ADVANCED SOCIETIES.

THE "MAN" PROBLEM: HUMANISM, METAPHYSICS, EXISTENCE

THE COURSE EXAMINATES WHY THE CONCEPT OF "HUMANISM" (INTENDED AS AN ELABORATION OF THE HUMAN ESSENCE) HAS BEEN AND CONTINUES TO BE THE SUBJECT OF POLEMICS. THE DISCUSSION BETWEEN SARTRE AND HEIDEGGER ON HUMANISM IS A CENTRAL MOMENT IN THIS CONTROVERSY.
AFTER OUTLINING WHAT PHILOSOPHICAL HUMANISM CONSISTS OF, A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE POSITIONS OF THE TWO AUTHORS WILL BE CARRIED OUT USING SOME EMBLEMATIC TEXTS.
