Objectives
The course aims to provide students with the main theoretical and operational tools for the analysis and modeling of the mechanical behavior of natural and artificial slopes under various loading conditions. A description of the key elements for the identification and design of the most appropriate non-structural measures and control works to achieve an adequate safety factor towards failure.
Prerequisites
Required knowledge is: the effective stress principle, stress-strain field in porous multiphase media; mechanical behavior of multiphase porous media. Geotechnical characterization of soils
Contents
Identification and classification of landslides. The failure criteria and operational resistance. The methods for the analysis of slope stability conditions. Stabilization works for slopes.
Teaching Methods
Teaching includes lectures and classroom tutorials. The tutorials deal with the main topics of the course with particular attention to the applications.
Verification of learning
The achievement of the objectives of the course is assessed through an oral exam
Texts
C. Airò Farulla: “Analisi di Stabilità dei Pendii”- Hevelius Edizioni
A. Desideri, S. Miliziano, S. Rampello: “I drenaggi nei pendii”
Didactic material prepared by the teacher
More Information
Seminars and technical visits are also organized.
