THE COURSE AIMS TO ANALYZE THE HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC RELATIONS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE ROLE OF ITALY IN THE EUROPEAN AND EURO-MEDITERRANEAN CONTEXT AND THE EFFECTS OF ECONOMIC GLOBALIZATION. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND, IN COMPARATIVE AND DIACHRONIC TERMS, THE STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS. THE COURSE WILL ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY TO DEVELOPMENT AND INTERVENTION PROGRAMS AS WELL AS TO ACTIVITIES OF STUDY AND RESEARCH INSIDE INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC ORGANISATIONS. |

THE COURSE AIMS TO RECONSTRUCT THE PHENOMENON OF INTERNATIONALIZATION AND GLOBALIZATION OF THE ECONOMY FROM THE MODERN AGE TO THE MOST RECENT STAGES OF THE CONTEMPORARY AGE. IN PARTICULAR, THE COURSE WILL EXAMINE THE ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL EXPANSION POLICIES, AND THE MOVEMENT OF GOODS, SERVICES AND FACTORS OF PRODUCTION, IN THEIR RESPECTIVE MONETARY AND FINANCIAL CONTEXTS. MOREOVER, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC INTEGRATION PROCESS. WILL BE DEEPEN THE FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS GENERATED BY THE BRETTON WOODS INSTITUTIONS; THE END OF THE "DOLLAR STANDARD" AND THE EFFECTS OF CURRENCY SNAKE; UNSTABLE GROWTH TO STAGFLATION OF THE 70S; BIRTH AND EVOLUTION OF THE EUROPEAN MONETARY SYSTEM; THE CRISIS OF 1992-93 AND THE ROLE OF SPECULATORS; ASYMMETRY AND CONVERGENCE IN THE EMS; THE SECOND EUROPEAN RECOVERY: THE ECONOMIC AND MONETARY UNION; EUROPEAN COUNTRIES CENTRAL BANKS AND THE ECB; COHESION AND CONVERGENCE THE ORIGINS OF COMMUNITY REGIONAL POLICY; THE EVOLUTION OF INDUSTRIAL POLICIES; GLOBALIZATION AND THE CHALLENGES FOR EUROPE; INEQUALITY; EU ENLARGEMENT. FURTHER ANALYSIS WILL COVER THE HISTORICAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE MIDDLE EAST, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE PATH OF DIVERGENCE FROM THE WEST AND THE RECENT EURO-MEDITERRANEAN INTEGRATION PROCESS. |
