EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS AND COMPETENCE TO BE ACQUIRED: LEARNING OBJECTIVES THE COURSE PROPOSES TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS WITH THE MAIN THEORETICAL AND APPLICATION FUNDAMENTALS FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE BEHAVIOR OF RETAINING STRUCTURES IN SUPPORT OF EXCAVATIONS WORKS AND OF THEIR ENGINEERING MODELING IN RELATION TO THE MOST VARIOUS STRENGTH CONDITIONS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING CAPACITIES. KNOWLEDGE OF THEORIES FOR THE ANALYSIS OF SOIL PRESSURE IN SHORT- AND LONG-TERM STATIC AND DYNAMIC CONDITIONS, OF THE PROJECT METHODOLOGIES IN THE LIGHT OF THE VIGENT LEGISLATION AND OF THE TRADITIONAL AND INNOVATIVE TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS. APPLIED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING. UPON PASSING THE FINAL EXAM, THE STUDENT SHALL BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THE STRESS STATE OF SOILS THAT THE STRUCTURE MUST SUPPORT, TO CHOOSE AND DESIGN THE MOST SUITABLE TYPE OF WORK AND TO FORESEE ITS INTERACTION WITH THE ENVIRONMENT. JUDGMENT AUTONOMY. TO KNOW CRITICALLY HOW TO EXAMINE THE RESULTS OF GEOTECHNICAL ANALYSIS, BY CHECKING THE CORRECTNESS OF THE PROJECT CHOICES PERFORMED. COMMUNICATION SKILLS. KNOW HOW TO WORK IN GROUP AND EXPOSE ORALLY GEOTECHNICAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE ANALYSIS OF SOIL PRESSURES, TO THE BEHAVIOR OF SUPPORTING WORKS, TO THE EVALUATION OF THE BENEFITS DERIVING FROM THE USE OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS. |

THE EVALUATION OF REACHING THE PREFIXED OBJECTIVES WILL CONSIST OF TESTS AT THE END OF THE COURSE: - AN ORAL EXAMINATION (DURATION: ABOUT 30 MINUTES)ARTICULATED IN THREE QUESTIONS TO CHECK THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE ARGUMENTS DEALT WITH AT LESSON AND DURING EXERCISES. - DISCUSSION (DURATION: ABOUT 10 MINUTES)AT THE END OF THE COURSE OF A CASE STUDY PROJECT DEEPENED BY THE STUDENT IN THE FIELD OF RETAINING STRUCTURES WITHIN A GROUP WORK. THE RESULT OF THE FINAL EVALUATION OF THE STUDENT WILL BE BASED ON A COMPREHENSIVE JUDGMENT THAT TAKES INTO ACCOUNT BOTH THE ORAL (70%) AND GROUP WORK (30%). FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE LAUDE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT IT WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT: - THE QUALITY OF EXPOSITION, IN TERMS OF USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE; - THE ABILITY OF TRANSVERSAL LINKING BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT ARGUMENTS OF THE COURSE AND, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES; - OF THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT PROVEN. |
