Objectives
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
THE COURSE AIMS TO INTRODUCE THE STUDENTS TO THE STUDY OF THE POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES OF THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD. WHAT IS THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD? WHY DOES THE CONTEMPORARY POLITICAL THOUGHT TAKE THE SHAPE OF THE POLITICAL IDEOLOGY? HOW CAN WE ANALYSE THE POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES AND WITH WHICH POLITICAL METHODOLOGY? HOW IS THE HISTORY OF THE MODERN POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES MADE? AFTER AN EXAMINATION OF THE CHIEF NOTIONS OF THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD, OF THE POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES, AND OF THE POLITICAL METHODOLOGY, THE COURSE WILL TRACE THE MOST SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS, TRANSITIONS AND AUTHORS OF THE CONTEMPORARY TIMES AND IT WILL DO SO BY THE ANALYSIS OF THE REASONS, DIRECTIONS AND ISSUES THAT STILL EXIST TODAY.

THE COURSE WILL, AFTER THE INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC OF THE “POLITICAL NATURE OF PHILOSOPHY” IN THE HISTORY OF THOUGHT, OFFER A DETAILED EXAMINATION OF THE ITALIAN DEBATE ON MARX BETWEEN THE 19TH CENTURY AND THE 20TH CENTURY, OF THE GENESIS OF THE THEORETICAL MARXISM IN ITALY (LABRIOLA, CROCE, GENTILE, GRAMSCI), AND ON THE INFLUENCE WHICH THAT HAD UPON THE ITALIAN CULTURE IN THE 20TH CENTURY.
Teaching Methods
DIDACTIC METHODS
THE TEACHING WILL FOLLOW A TRADITIONAL DIDACTIC METHOD, USING MAINLY THE METHOD OF THE FRONTAL LESSON. NONETHELESS , THE COURSE AIMS TO ENCOURAGE THE COMMUNICATION DURING THE LESSONS AND TO STRONGLY PROMOTE THE RECIPROCITY AND ALSO THE STUDENTS' PARTECIPATION. MOREOVER, THE COURSE MEANS TO ENCOURAGE AND INCREASE THE LEARNING SKILL OF THE STUDENTS THROUGH THE ACTIVATION OF COMMUNICATION CHANNELS THAT CAN HELP TO STRENGHTHEN THEIR SENSE OF INVOLVEMENT AND ATTENTION.

TEST OF KNOWELDGE
THE TEST OF KNOWLEDGE WILL CONIST OF AN ORAL EXAM UPON THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE. THE VOTE (WITH 30 POINTS BEING THE BEST GRADE AND 18 THE MINIMUM PASSING GRADE, PLUS A POSSIBLE CUM LAUDE NOTATION) IS DETERMINED BY THE LEVEL OF THE STUDENT PERFORMANCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

CRITICAL ABILITIES AND SYSTEMATIC DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE
ACCURACY OF THE DEFINITIONS AND OF THE THEORETICAL REFERENCES
ABILITY TO MASTER THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE

THE CUM LAUDE NOTATION IS GIVEN WHEN THE CANDIDATE SHOWS A SIGNIFICANT MASTERY OF THE METHODS AND WHEN A HIGH LEVEL OF LANGUAGE ABILITY AND ELABORATION IS DEMONSTRATED.
